  1. I’m not sure we can call then “stars” just yet, and I for one, was almost always careful to say DD nearly stripped the farm not totally. Houck and Dalbec have shown signs of being very helpful and may become stars someday, but how many players on the Sox are DD era prospects and stars right now? He was GM long enough and the timing is right for there to be several. Duran and Casa may be years from stardom. I’m pretty sure a couple of DDs prospects or prospects in the system when DD arrived will end up real good- maybe more, but we are feeling the effects of having a bad farm for 3+ years as we speak. I’ve said this several times, I never expected Bloom to be able to rebuild our farm and 40 man roster so quickly, especially in an era when rich and winning teams have the cards stacked against them. Trading away stars and losing badly helped, some, of course, and not many saw all that coming.
  2. No, no, no! You have to use a different criteria for each and every Yankee starter.
  3. His H/9 rate is way down, and it’s not all about BAbip being low. Maybe he’s just a pitcher that gained a lot from the new ball era. Also, his BB/9 rate is dropping quickly. He had 17 in his first 27 innings and 5 in his last 17 Ip, which is back to his career norm- not great but not so bad you still can’t be a good pitcher. The HR/9 rate is something we’ll have to watch..
  4. It doesn’t help to have 7 well rested sucky pitchers to choose from vs 6 semi rested sucky pitchers to choose from in innings 6 and 7 and sometimes 8 when Ottavino or Barnes are not available. We are talking about keeping Brice well rested? We need Brasier and Houck back. If they are both healthy and doing well we may not notice how scary our pen is beyond the top 2..
  5. I’m a big Dallas Cowboy hater but won a fantasy league riding on Emmit Smith’s shoulders. That was weird!
  6. Has no recently turned 28 pitcher with excellent “stuff” ever busted out of mediocrity?
  7. You keep saying this. It’s worked out well.
  8. I’ll take a stab: because none of you can match Bloom.
  9. We’re the only MLB team with 5 starters over 30 IP and a plus ERA plus or minus 100 ERA-. As a team, our starters are 5th in IP.
  10. There are way more Thant 2 choices.
  11. By far, his best career slot is 8th, but his whole life I bet never batted below 6th.
  12. I can see them jumping ahead of Vaz, and I’m not sure who leads off when kike returns.
  13. He hasn’t played enough recently to be ready to step into action. Maybe soon.
  14. Probably not, because maybe one of these guys will be moved to a top 5 slot.
  15. Is it time to move Renfroe and Dalbec up in the line-up?
  16. Our bottom 4 hitters had 6 of our 9 hits, 3 of our 4 runs and all 4 rbi. I’m not sure when the last time that happened.
  17. It was 2 nights ago , but just about everyone has sucked their last outing or more. I happen to think Andriese might be our best hope as our #3, but the freshest sucky outing always seems like the worst.
  18. Kluber is a god. Pivetta is a false idol.
  19. When you can walk on rice paper without making sound, then you can leave.
  20. Indeed, and I’m finding it hard to understand how it’s Cora’s fault we only have two trustworthy pen arms. It wasn’t long ago bringing in Ottavino was a mistake made by Cora.
  21. I was just thinking about Koji and how no Sox RPer has pitched like this since him.
  22. Yes, and this is exactly why. It doesn’t matter having 6 s***** RPers or 7.
  23. I’m glad Cora has Barnes to choose, or he’d be run out of town by now.
  24. They can’t pitch everyday and it wasn’t long ago we all wanted Taylor demoted or worse and Sawamura was letting up HRs left and right.
