You look at players with 1-2 years of team control and decide if they will likely be part of your long term plan. If the answer is no, you listen to offers.
I happen to think Beni was going to bounce back, and maybe waiting for the deadline would have brought back more, assuming he was doing well, but that's a gamble Bloom did not take.
I'm not all that hopeful any of the players we get back for Beni, besides Cordero- who has 1 more year of control than Beni had, will amount to much, but the more quantity you have your chances of striking gold, or even silver or bronze, goes up.
