  1. Can't find one example.
  2. Fact? LOL. It's a certainty we lose both games he pitched, had we started someone else? Then, somehow, we lose another game he didn't even pitch in? LOL. Yes, he was great in the 2018 WS- not the whole PO's. Pearce was, too. Nate was, too. Others, too.
  3. I've been wrong many many times, but unlike you, I easily admit it.
  4. I'm not complaining, ut what ever happened to the stretch out Whitlock plan? Tonight, he faced one batter in the 5th inning- a perfect long inning situation. Has anyone said they changed their minds? I'm not bitching- just wondering.
  5. This is the guy who said he hasn't hated on almost every Sox player at some point.
  6. Looks like we found our lead off hitter. I wish I had thought of using Arroyo in that slot!
  7. His whole point was, on another thread, that there was no way the Yanks could ever win with the rosters they've had in the last decade.
  8. All the more reason to catch the Rays and win the damn division!
  9. He's got one more arb year left, and should get a big raise, if he continues like this. I doubt we offer what the Marlins would want for 1.3 yrs of him. If we get anyone, if might be a salary dump player with 2 months left, but who is doing well. Maybe a Carlos Santana type guy, if we opt for 1B over pitching.
  10. So, how could we possibly lose to the Yanks even without Price? A guy nominated for the biggest choke in league history all the way up until 2 starts in the WS where he goes 5 and 5.2 IP.
  11. We "destroyed" everyone. We'd have won it all without any single player, including Price, Eovaldi, Pearce or whoever. We'd likely have won without any two, but I won't go there. BTW, did you forget Price had a 16.20 ERA vs the Yanks in the ALDS and was knocked out by the second inning. He did okay vs HOU in the ALCS but did allow 12 H+BB in 10.2 IP (2 GS). He did great in the WS that we won 4 games to one, and the one loss was barely that. It was actually what turned the series in our favor watching Nate be "the man." As for Sale, we won the division by 8 games. Maybe we don't without him, but as you said, no way could the Yankee team ever win with the roster they constructed.
  12. We'll know more about 2B and OF after 2021. Maybe Arroyo solidifies the 2B job. Maybe Duran comes up in August and bombs.
  13. Renfroe is a FA after next year. At 2B, we have Kike for one more year-same as Renfroe. We have Arroyo for several years. I know some don't like Arauz, but he's somewhat promising. Munoz & Chavis are a long shots. Nick Yorke is our #10 prospect and Matthew Lugo is not far behind. After 2022, we have Verdugo & Duran in the OF. Jimenez may be close to the bigs by 2023, but I don't see 2B being any thinner than OF long term.
  14. Manny & JD. That's it for big FA signings that worked very well for us. Two decades. We've won with our trades, our farm and unsung heroes.
  15. We did not need Price in 2018, or even Sale and maybe even others.
  16. Well, I'm about to sign off on this thread, in hopes it keeps the mojo rising. Keep it positive, if you dare. GO SOX!
  17. He may not be the answer, but I hope he starts off strong, just so we don't try anyone else there for a while.
  18. Just some FYI. I never said the Yanks spent their money well. We haven't done all that great, either. I do wish we had signed Cole not Price. Does that make me a Yankee lover?
  19. I've been saying they should have fired Boone and Cashman years ago. I've been battling jacko, daily, for years. (Check out the Yankee thread that goes back months and months.) I disagreed with your assessment on them not having any chance to win, despite spending over $200M every year, and for that, I'm a Yankee defender?
  20. Would you trade Downs straight up for Cedric Mullins (3 more years of team control) or Adolis Garcia (4 more yrs of control)? BTV accepted both trades and have their values being very similar.
  21. Sox OPS from 2020 to 2021 (120+ PAs) .890 Bogey .852 Devers .828 Verdugo .818 JD .783 Plawecki .776 Renfroe .749 Arroyo .741 Dalbec .724 Vaz .658 Chavis .654 Kike .607 Marwin ERA- (20+ IP) 38 Whitlock 45 Houck 62 Ottavino & DHern 64 Sawamura 77 Barnes 79 Valdez 80 Pivetta 85 Eovaldi & Perez 86 Brasier 90 Richards 95 Weber 118 Andriese 129 ERod 132 Taylor 148 Brewer Only players still in the Sox system are listed.
  22. I don't think he'll ever approach a .360 OBP again, at least for a full season. I do think .330 is within reach, probably not this year, since the hole he's dug is deep. My guess is, he might end up around .290 to .315 for most of his prime years. His career OBP is now down to .288, as 2021 outweighs 2020 more and more each game he plays.
  23. Black Hole Frequency and MLB, Today: Team OPS by slot: 9 Slot (includes all games at NL team parks with pitchers batting 9th.): .544 MLB Avg OPS (.605 AL only) .544/.527 2 Median teams .576 BOS (ranked 12th) 8 Slot .622 MLB (.633 AL only) .618/.601 .719 BOS (ranked 3rd) 7 Slot .675 MLB (.681 AL only) .679/.679 .519 BOS (ranked 29th) 6 Slot .707 MLB (.694 AL only) .705/.688 .676 BOS (ranked 19th) Only the 7th Slot looks to be hurting the Sox significantly.
  24. Most teams have 3-5 #9 hitters, so us having just 3 is actually an advantage.
  25. But the other teams sit and twiddle their thumbs while waiting for the 5 game series to end.
