  1. See. You agreed with me and were right.
  2. Maybe 4 for 7, if you count Marwin and Andriese.
  3. It's the way of the world, these days. (I'm not claiming I never do it, too.)
  4. That's how you admit a mistake? No mention that you thought he'd suck or any opinions you shared about him- just a comment on how he looks to be doing good, now. You crack me up. Try this as an real example of admitting I was wrong: "I thought we should have signed Odorizzi. He sucks. I was horribly wrong." There. Was that something you can't ever do?
  5. Agreed. It's not like I think Chavis is going to rake, but Bobby Dee needs a change of scenery.
  6. This proves this one manager does not look at the small sample size of just 2021 to use as "analytics," otherwise Arroyo looked like the clear choice.
  7. I respect that opinion. I just focused on you saying the whole playoffs and that it was a "fact" we don't win without Price. I have no problem saying Price was the most valuable player in the WS, only. It would have been harder to win that series without him more than probably anyone else, except maybe Nate, but I'm fine with saying Price was numuero uno. My position is that the 2018 was so very strong, we could have won without any one player. Probably not easily, but yes, I think we were that good.
  8. Sounds good, but it's kind of a long shot all of our 3 big prospects will contribute positively, especially right from the start.
  9. .211 That's higher than Dalbec, and he has a .758 OPS in MLB during his short call-up (33 PAs).
  10. It's not like the guy has been this bad his whole career or over the past few years. It's also not like other top 2Bman on last winter's market are tearing the cover off the ball. It looks like a bad signing- no doubt, but he has not even reached the 25% mark of his team control with the Sox. That can be viewed as a bad thing or as a hopeful thing, if he balances out this bad stretch with something that brings him back to his career norm. Kike did help the Dodgers win it all, last year. He was a net plus, just months ago. BTW, here are some numbers from other winter options (AVV x yrs): 2B 15 x 6 LeMahieu (.656 in 251 PAs) 7 x 4 H-S Kim (.585 in 156) 7 x 3 Profar (.614 in 211) 9 x 2 K Wong (.784 in 178) 6.3 x 3 La Stella (.650 in 75) 7 x 2 Kike (.654 in 184) 5 x 1 Cesar Hernandez (.684 in 245) It's easy to say we should have signed Holt instead of Kike, but almost everyone wanted us to go larger at 2B (short term). OF 25 x 6 Springer IL after 4 games 16.3 x 4 Ozuna (.645 in 208) 16 x 2 Brantley (.801 in 179) 12 x 2 JBJ (.504 in 186) 7 x 3 Profar (.614 in 211) 10 x 1 Schwarber (.727 in 203) We could have signed Odorizzi, someone I wrongly wanted, instead of Richards and Perez combined!
  11. My guess would be super two day, but who knows? A lot can happen between then and now. If we could get meaningful inputs from Duran and Casas or two from Duran, Casa and Downs after super two day 2022, we'd be looking golden. Imagine having all the financial resources to focus on pitching (replacing or re-signing Barnes, Ottavino & ERod) and depth improvement (replacing Marwin, Santana, Chavis and others). The rebuilding timing has been the best we could possibly hope for, if 2 of those 3 come though. Then, on top of that, we have some outside hopes from Seabold, Houck, Ward, Mata, Song, Ronaldo Hernandez or several other promising youngsters. We, then replace Duran, Casas and Downs with Jimenez, Yorke, Bello, Aldo Ramirez and our 2021 draftees.
  12. So, I was wrong about Pivetta, and you were right?
  13. Exactly! I hope he stays hot, so the question does not come up again.
  14. Yes, of course. I'm not the one trying to prove we would have won without Price. I think we would have, because that team always did whatever it took, but it's not a "fact" we win without him. It would have been harder, for sure. My guess is we'd have started Nate in one of those games and missed his great pen work. (Nate started 0 games in the WS and pitched 8 innings in 5 games. Maybe Porcello, Sale or ERod pitch the "other game." IP in 5 WS games 13.2 Price 8.0 Nate 6.1 ERod 5.0 Sale 4.2 Porcello Remember, we had 5 days off before the WS, so it's not like our other options were over-worked in the WS.
  15. We passed the CWS for the second best AL record, tonight. We're 1/2 game behind TBR and tied in the loss column.
  16. Ottavino never makes it look easy, but hey, he didn't walk the first guy! Yipee! Nice game. Too bad Pivetta misses out on getting the win, but maybe that will help light a fire for him the bear down as the game gets to the 5th and 6th inning- an area he has struggle in. The pen went 4.1 allowing just one late run. 7 Ks along with Pivetta's 6 showed the dominance. Arroyo looks like he may stick at leadoff.
  17. None of this is proof we lose without him. It would have been harder to win without big Nate.
  18. Price did great in the World Series, byr he pitched 3 good to great games out of 5 playoff starts. We won every series easily. It's hard to say we lose without any one player. Yes, we were that good! Price in 2018 playoffs (reverse order): IP ER H+BB 7.0 1 5 (pitching on short rest, a gutsy and huge win while we were up 3-1 in series) 6.0 2 6 (huge win v LAD to tie the series at 1-1- no doubt- HUGE!) 6.0 0 3 (Awesome pitched game v HOU in a series we were up 3-1) 4.2 4 9 (We had to come back after Price left down 4-2 to win v HOU) 1.2 3 5 (turned the Yankee series from 1-0 us to 1-1.)
  19. Facts can be proven. This is speculation. Maybe we don't win without him, but we were awesome in 2018. We lost Sale and picked up Nate and didn't miss a beat. Steve Pearce came out of nowhere. The Yanks couldn't win as you pointed out. The Stros have proven they can't win without cheating. The Dodgers would have been harder to beat without Price, but not impossible. I still think we'd win without Price or any single Sox player. We were that good. In fact, the argument against DD, used my many, and maybe even you, was that he went for overkill and traded away too much of the farm for the win now plan that brought us the record breaking 2018 season. Can I prove we win without Price OR Sale? No. But, you can't prove we lose, either. I'm not dissing Price or his 2018 WS two games started.
  20. I'm not arguing about his pitching in the WS. I'd be fine calling him the MVP. That does not mean it's a fact we couldn't have won without him, The rest of the playoffs he let up 7 runs, 11 hits and 6 walks in 13.1 IP (3 GS'd). That's a 4.73 ERA. Priceless!
  21. You named two players who haven;t even played, this year and 3 teams that have nothing to do with how you have hated on the vast majority of Sox players, at some point this year. Sometimes flip-flopping from one AB to the next.
