How we pay is by going over the tax line, next year. You could also add ERod, Pedey and Ottavino to get ace money. Getting rid of ERod and Richards and replacing the two with one ace still leave a hole that maybe Whitlock/Houck can fill, but then how good do Perez, Pivetta and Eovaldi look, right now? You know me. I'm always for adding an ace, when practical, and this winter seems like times up.

Talking about the actual game would be detrimental to my health. -
Only ones worth mentioning are Barnes, Papelbon and Buch. Maybe we traded someone away? (Frank Montas or Anibal Sanchez?) Not much, really. Let's hope Bloom and his crew change all that, soon.

Trading JD for a ML good SP'er (assuming that can be done) is going to get us to the promise land in 2021????

This is based on the assumption the 2021 season is lost. Barnes has 4 months of control left, and we can re-sign him, this winter.

Getting top prospects would help us not be screwed, and our 2022 outlook is not so bad, assuming we spend over the lux line.

At this point, I'm thinking trade JD and Barnes for a 3 nice prospects. Then, trade ERod & Ottavino for 1-2 nice prospects. Trade Marwin for a promising low level prospect.

Me, too, but at his cost, we would not get nearly as much as with Barnes. Barnes's contract is a plus.

The only team that would trade for JD is a contender. What contender can spare a good starting pitcher mid season? Maybe a pitching prospect, but not a proven good SP'er.

I don't want to either, but if we are 7 down by the deadline, he's the guy who would bring back the most.

Yes, splitting hairs. (I do that too much.) He said "chance to be great" on Duran, so you are probably never- including on Duran. I'd say many GMs feel most of their better performing prospects have "a chance" to be great.

The Rays lost 4 in a row in early April. They've aslo lost 3 in a row two times and 4 out of 5 two times- one not part of the 3 in a row subset. The CWS have not lost 4 in a row and only lost 3 straight once and 4 of 5 once (part of the 3 straight subset). The A's started the season losing 6 straight and have lost 3 straight and 4 of 5 a couple times each. The Astros lost 6 straight and 9 out of 10. They lost 4 straight another time and 3 straight tow other times. SF has only lost 3 straight once. LAD has 4 straight once and has lost 3 straight three time and had one stretch going 4-14. Much worse than anything we have done.

LOL. The thing is, I felt the eraly rest might be a good idea, so we can use these guys more later in the year, but as I recall, Cora rested guys in August & September, too. It worked in 2018, so who is to say it's a bad strategy?

If anyone asked him about Wilson, he might say the exact same thing. What manager says anything bad about prospects that are doing well?
