  1. Updated AL Standings 58-37 CWS 58-38 HOU 57-38 BOS (1.0 from best AL record/+1.0 ALE) 56-39 TBR (-1.0 ALE/+5 last WC slot) 55-42 OAK (+3.0 last WC) 51-44 SEA -3.0 WC 48-43 TOR -4.0 49-44 NYY -4.0 47-45 CLE -5.5
  2. I'd like to see him called up earlier than for just 2 starts. We need to see what this kid's got. It looks like he'll be on next year's 40, so the "urgency" is not really there, but at his age- AA is it.
  3. Duran had little power at that age, too.
  4. Good point. Then bring in Sale after Richards and Houck after Perez.
  5. Agreed, and he's got another year of control, which is big. Even him, I'm not sure Bloom is looking at trading 5 years of Downs (plus others) for 1.3 of Berrios.
  6. We could piggy back Sale after Perez goes 3 and Houck after Richards goes 3-4. Spread the wealth.
  7. I can see why some posters are not high on Downs, but he is still one of our best prospects. One not so good Hal season is not reason enough to trade a top prospect for a decent rental. Plus, it’s not going to happen. Zero chance. Nada.
  8. World Champs Milwaukee Bucks!
  9. He did so well, last year (2nd in CYA), had we had him, we may not have gotten the 4th draft pick.
  10. I don't see trading away guys like Wilson, Potts, Rosario or maybe even Ward or Groome as hurting the farm all that much. When we traded Beeks, did anyone think he was all that promising? I'm hoping we don't have to trade prospects as good as Groome, but that's about as high as I go, this summer.
  11. Couldn't ask for anything more encouraging. We are talking about... Chris Freakin' Sale!
  12. Agreed. I guessed 2-3 outings. First game might be in relief for a 3-4 inning start.
  13. The Bucks have been my team since I lived there back when Lew Alcindor was drafted and we traded for the Big O. 50 years between rings! NICE!
  14. You know there are dozens and dozens of ball players who started out slower and for longer time periods than this Dalbec example. Certainly, many who started out this slowly went on the a worse future or a DFA, but 358 career MLB PAs is a rather small sampole size, and a .733 career OPS is really not all that horrific. Sure, 1Bmen should do much better, and sure his learning of a new position (3B to 1B) had been scary, but he will get another long look at some point. Maybe with the Sox- maybe not.
  15. I'm undefeated on first game threads (after someone else's loss). The last time was my first one and done- that debacle, rain-shortended game in NY.
  16. Sun is out, now. Hazy, humid, kinda warm.
  17. This is the "realistic" thread. Richards may be a good RP'er. Andriese is not.
  18. I'd love to win it all this year, but to me, you only trade away some of the most promising future when the timing is just right. I don't think this is the time. I think we'll be better in the next year or two, and that should be the time we think about sacrificing some of the future for "lightening." I think we can make a couple lesser but impactful deals, this summer that keep us under the tax line while keeping the future team intact.
  19. 1. Sale 2. Eovaldi 3. ERod 4. Pivetta 5. Richards 6. Perez 7. Barnes 8. Ottavino 9. Whitlock 10. Taylor 11. Houck 12. D Hern 13. Sawamura 14. Brasier or Andriese/Rios/Workman/Bazardo/Valdez/Seabold
  20. Nobody thought trading for Eovaldi or Pearce was going to be a big difference maker.
  21. If we can keep Arroyo healthy, and Duran does well, we may not need any help on offense. Arroyo has a .792 OPS. Whatever Duran ends up having, the two of these guys should do better than this: PA Player OPS 246 Marwin .583 109 Santana .575 102 Cordero .501 64 Chavis .530 That's over 500 PAs of some very bad offense. Where might we see a shift in the IP distribution, going forward? IP Pitcher ERA 108 Eovaldi3.57 (same) 103 Pivetta 4.37 (same) 95 ERod 5.19 (maybe more) 92 Richards 4.91 (less) 89 Perez 4.16 (maybe less) 46 Whitlock 1.38 (same- on innings limit?) 38 Barnes 2.61 (same) 38 Ottavino 2.61 (same) 38 Sawamura 2.87 (same) 37 Andriese 6.03 (way less) 31 D Hern 3.77 (same) 31 Taylor 3.77 (same) 23 Valdez 4.24 (less) 15 Workman 3.00 (less, I hope) 14 Brice 6.59 (way less) 13 Houck 3.38 (way more) 12 Rios 4.63 (less) 15 combined: Weber, Brennan, Bazardo, Brewer, Marwin & Arroyo 0 Sale (way more) 0 Brasier (more)
  22. 358 PAs just doesn't mean all that much, to me. My issue with Gallo is the up and down not the mean. .312 .389 .301 .391 That and the cost needed to get him. If the guy had a .391 OBP over the past 2-4 years, I'm interested.
  23. I disagree. I still think Houston looks better on paper, and they will likely make a trade or two as well. The Dodgers are way better. That being said, it's what we'd have to give back is the big "no" for me, and if we give up that much, I want pitching.
  24. You know me, I'm not all about recency. That being said, can we trade Dalbec for Gallo straight up? No, not even close, so what's your point?
