  1. BTV accepted Ward, POyys and Chavis for Gray & Chron. Also, Ward & Chavis for just Gray.
  2. Vaz needs a rest, despite the ASB. Verdugo needs a slap upside his head. Renfroe needs a lil sum-in- sum'in. Dalbec needs a complete reset.
  3. Maybe Cordero or Santana platoon with Bobby Dee at 1B.
  4. No, but he will cost a piece or two that are too promising for me to want to give up. Also, do you really think Rizzo greatly improves our ring chances? I'm thinking he's a slight upgrade over Dalbec and might be equal or worse than a Cordero-Arroyo platoon.
  5. Must be showcasing him to all the 29 teams drooling over him.
  6. I thought so, too, but soxprospects lists him as on the IL.
  7. Would anyone, here, trade Groome, Ward & Chavis for Jon Gray and CJ Chron? (BTV accepted it.) I think it's a bit too much, but it would solve the possible roster crunch, this winter with Rule 5 and FA additions. Also accepted was Ward, Potts & Chavis.
  8. I'm more about staying good for the long term and think this team will get better over the next few years. Going all out is what caused the 2019-2020 misery. That being said, we don't need to go all out to improve, but I'm thinking someone like Rizzo or others you have mentioned may end up sacrificing too much of our future for what I like. The Beeks for Eovaldi trade or Espinal for Peaarce is what I have in mind, but neither of them were "wow" pick-ups that summer. They just went on to do very well. It sounds like you want something too costly for me and likely for Bloom, too.
  9. We need to stop the slide. Stripling is a decent starter, but this game is winnable. The Jays are hot. We need to cool them off.
  10. I wasn't claiming we'd win. I claimed it wasn't a big stretch to think we might have won.
  11. Why trade the future for 2 months of Rizzo? He's not even all that great, anymore. I do think we need to do something, but this is NOT the time to go all in.
  12. I'm talking right now or in a day or two, and we don't know about Arroyo's injury.
  13. Is it time to call up Cordero and demote Chavis, again? If Santana is activated, today, do we DFA him? Has the time come to end the Workman era in Boston? If yes, there's not much to call up without adding someone to the 40 (Ort, Schreiber, Brennan, Walden, Gonsalves?) What's up with Phillips Valdez and Connor Seabold?(IL?)
  14. Maybe not such a big stretch. I think we've come back a couple times, already, this year, and the Yankee pen is not what it was advertised as being.
  15. Jose Fernandez Dontrelle Willis Luis Castillo
  16. We certainly aren't way better, and some numbers, like these, show they may even be better, but I still like our roster over theirs. It's the CWS and Astros that look better, on paper. I like our grit, though, and hat's not captured by stats or data.
  17. "Lost" too many times, for sure. Had this not been a competitive season, he'd still be out there playing everyday, until we were certain or near certain he was a keeper or not. Same with Cordero. The good news is, we have gained some positive knowledge on Whitlock and Arroyo. Maybe we learn more on Houck, and maybe Dalbec or Cordero start showing signs of life.
  18. It was tongue-and-cheek. No, I don't think he was more likely to get hurt at 1B than 2B, but maybe a tiny bit more than someone with experience there. Negligible.
  19. That is why I traded Chavis 100 times! LOL!
  20. They surely have their misses, and both Chavis and Hernandez have seen their value drop, this year. I just think that with Vaz being a FA after 2022, we'll keep Wong, who is not a lock to stay catching either, and Hernandez on the 40.
  21. Old man Mookie is out with a nagging hip injury.
  22. Now, BTV is not a proven prospect evaluator, but they have been pretty accurate on trade values, so far. Here's how they value our prospects in order of value: 48 Casas 45 Duran 20 Downs 11 Jimenez 10 Mata 7 R Hernandez 7 Yorke 5 Seabold 4 Groome, Ward, Bello 3 Ramirez, Winckoski, Rosario (Soxprospects.com moved him from #14 to #24, recently.)
  23. Agreed. They may not be as good as we thought, when we were riding high, but we should make the playoffs and even win the division. If you look at the other teams, they have as many or more black holes or weaknesses as we do.
  24. Sure. It can't hurt, right? The worst thing that might happen would be an injury.
  25. I'm not projecting or predicting greatness, but the guy is ranked highly by a couple sites, so I'm keeping him around a while longer. Vaz is a FA after 2022.
