  1. Yanks traded Cessa & J Wilson to free up some money and 2 roster spots. Still hard to know, if they're buyers or sellers. The Mariners traded for Tyler Anderson, a good SP'er.
  2. Can we use this one thread for both games, cause we're winning game one.
  3. The White Sox are tough, too.
  4. Yes, that's why I said maybe AL faves, as the Astros look better on paper, despite their pen issues and have beaten us. (They will likely add some pen, help at the deadline.) Scherzer may make us the AL faves, but not faves to beat an NL west team that wins the NL. (Note: they will all improve at the deadline, too.)
  5. "Absolutely?" Have you looked at the Dodger & Padres' rosters? Plus both have already and will add more pieces, too.
  6. 1. I disagree. 2. Those teams are making moves to improve, too. I know my opinion is probably within a small minority of posters who feel like I do, but I want us to wind for many years to come. I think he have a nice team this year and a good chance to win by making 2 minor to moderate moves. Of all our top prospects, I think Downs is the most over-rated, but maybe GMs feel like that, too. He's not "blocked," if Bogey bolts after 2022, in fact we'll have a gaping hole at the middle infield positions. I'm not sure even DD would trade a lot for a rental. I'm fine with trading top prospects for controllable pitchers, but not for 2 month rentals. If Scherzer agreed to a reasonable extension, then maybe, but why would he do that, especially with an east coast team. I would not trade any of these guys for any rental: Duran Bello Jimenez Houck Casas Downs Yorke Blow me away for these guys Seabold Ramirez Song These are the highest ranked guys I might trade for a rental, but I'm sure my list varies from others and most importantly, Bloom. Winckowski A Ramirez Groome Mata F Valdez Lugo C Murphy Howlett Jordan Bonaci Murphy Wong Ward Lugo Ro Hernandez 40 man guys that might be squeezed, this winter are on the table: Chavis (maybe Dalbec, if we get a 1Bman with 1.3 yrs+ of control) Wilson Arauz Potts Rosario Cordero maybe Bazardo Nobody wants Andriese, Santana, Workman and maybe Rios. I still like the idea of selling 1 or 2 from Richards, Perez and even Sawamura to free up salary space and open a slot for Sale and 1-2 pitchers we add through minor to moderate trades at the deadline. Maybe enough money can be freed to add a cheap 1Bman, or trade Dalbec and pick up Carlos Santana or a longer controlled player. I'm not for doing nothing. I see a small squeeze on the roster, next year with all the rule 5 protectees and my vision of us adding 3-5 quality, including 1-2 very good to great FAs. We can make some nice packages without including top prospects. That's what I want. I think that's what Bloom & Cora want. I hope it is. (It's not like I'd be bummed out, if we traded for Scherzer and Carlos Santana, but my long term outlook would probably be dimmed significantly, unless Bloom pulls some master deals.
  7. I plan on living another decade or two. My dad just turned a healthy and vivacious 94. I’m extremely positive about our long term outlook and love this year’s magical team. Add a couple pieces like we did in 2018 without upsetting the magic or chemistry or whatever you want to call it. Just don’t mess with the longer term plans. We should have a list of 6-8 players that have some value to many GMs but are not a significant part of our future, some may include Groome Ward Potts Rosario Chavis Wilson Arauz A Rule 5 player or 2
  8. Yeah, that’s me. Lol
  9. Hyperbole. We can beat them but won’t be faves
  10. I’m not in the playoffs are scrap shoot club, but we will not be faves over the NL teams and maybe not even the Astros, even if we add Scherzer and Rizzo, which we won’t be doing.
  11. Maybe faves to win AL- maybe. The Dodgers and Padres are stacked and also adding pieces. The Astros look great on paper, especially if they add some pen help.
  12. History shows otherwise. Scherzer will net a top 70 or 2 top 100
  13. I kinda hope the Yanks sweep, do some heavy buying then suck again.
  14. We’ll need more than Scherzer and Rizzo to beat the LAD and probably SFG or SDP, too. Let’s go large and long this winter.
  15. When your staff is allowing just 1-2 runs a game, you don’t need a great offence. They added Cruz, so don’t you think that’s a big add? They have scored just 20 runs less than us before Cruz. The Rays are right with us now, before Cruz, Glasnow and maybe Scherzer. They will be the AL faves with Scherzer. They will not be MLB faves. (I know Scherzer likes the west coast.)
  16. That philosophy brought us 2019 and 2020. I’m not for doing nothing, and I don’t think Downs and scraps gets us Scherzer, anyway. I want to win it all this year, but I don’t think now is the time to blow up the whole plan. I’m not shy about big deals- at the right time. I felt Sale brings us a ring, and he brought a 3 year window. I don’t think Scherzer makes us the faves, and he’s a 2 month rental. Show me trades for 3+ year aces and I’ll likely be all aboard.
  17. I’m not even all that high on Downs, but keeping the most top prospects improves your odds. Downs is not blocked if Bogey opts out after 2022. We owe this team some deals like we made in2018- both rentals by the way, but nothing really all that promising. If we are trading top prospects, it should be like the Sale deal and at the right time. I get the sense of urgency, but I think we’re a better team next year and beyond. I realise, if I’m wrong, we may look back at 2021 as a great blunder.
  18. Yup. Bloom has a clue.
  19. Plus Cruz. That's 3 huge pieces.
  20. I'm pretty sure Cora is on board for long term. We will make a move or two to give us a better chance. No move will hurt our long term, IMO. Anybody we trade will be someone not in our long term plans. Maybe that just what I hope, but My gut tells me Bloom and Cora agree.
  21. Adding Scherzer makes them the AL Fave. No offensive stud on the market can do that. (Plus, they already added Cruz. How's that working out?)
  22. I'm a freak. I would not go over the tax line for Scherzer. If Bloom & Co are going to go over, he'd be a great get, despite being a rental. I do NOT think now is the time to go big. I like Downs. I wouldn't trade anyone as high as him or even some lower than him for a rental. That's just me. I'm more about the long term and maybe I'm too obsessed with budget lines.
  23. All upper levels rained out. Salem: Drohan went 5 IP 0 H 0 BB 4 Ks
  24. It's always about pitching. The Rays know this.
