  1. I can't believe how many fans think only what you have done the last 2 weeks matters. Sure, they may end up being right. I hope not, but baseball is full of twists and turns, often on a dime.
  2. I don't think we bring back ERod. I doubt we take the option on Perez. I'd say 0%, but for some reason, Sox management likes Martin. Richards will not see his option picked up. I think we'll sign an older pitcher to a 2 year deal (maybe with a 3rd year option and buy-out). 2022 may look like this: S1 Sale S2 Scherzer, Verlander, Greinke, Kershaw, Morton (?) ---Hopefully not Cueto, Miley, Duffy, Rich Hill. Maybe Syndergaard -30 y/o S3 Eovaldi S4 Pivetta S5 Houck/Whitlock (Add some starter depth, unless we like what Seabold shows here on out) Sign a top set-up man. Add a short term slugging 1Bman and a nice utility player, and I'll love our chances in 2022.
  3. Sometimes a season mirrors the manners of many games played that year. If you keep getting snake-bitten all year, you end up missing the playoffs by a hair or losing it on a bad call or unforced error. If the season seems magical, it seems like everything falls into place- like 2013. Right now, it seems like all the magic is gone. We start wondering, if it was all smoke and mirrors, to begin with, and the comeback wins were flukes that gave us an inflated idea of how good we are. Maybe this team was never really good enough to be thought of as the best, even when we had the best record, but IMO, we are no where near this bad, either. Maybe a big game from Houck or Sale will spark us to a winning streak. Too bad we put off bringing up Sale, even on an innings limit and skipped a start by Houck. (See, I can and have criticized management, despite still thinking these guys are great.) We came back so many times in games, so why can't we comeback after a long stretch of putrid baseball?
  4. Although I'm an optimist, it does not mean I can't see this team is a "dumpster fire" right now. The key words are "right now." Why do people always assume a team or player will continue to play just as they have for the prior 2-3 weeks, even after repeatedly seeing baseball doesn't work that way? Trends change on a dime, all the time. I know the next question will be, "What do you see in this team that gives you any hope they'll turn this around?" Well, I heard that after we were swept by the O's in the season's first series. I've heard in many many times, this year and over the years, only to watch the team catch fire and surprise all those who give up so early. How many times do people need to be surprised and shocked before thinking, maybe I'll leave some room for hope, even when things look as bad as they possibly can be? We do have Sale & Houck joining the rotation- our biggest need area. We do have Schwarber (.910 OPS) & Arroyo (one of our hottest hitters post April) joining the line-up, at some point. We do have a great manager. We have a very good pen. It's not like there is nothing to be positive about.
  5. Not really. I was among the very first to jump ship in 2019, and totally wrote off 2020 from December to September. I also thought we had very little chance in 2013, but pretty quickly jumped on the bandwagon after Papi's speech.
  6. I did. They sold off some good young talent for a pipe dream. Don't let jacko convince you the prospects they gave up were duplicates or blocked values. The Yanks may make the playoffs, so that could be considered "worth it," especially if the players they got make a big difference, as they have in the first week of 9, but they will be worse in the long run for making these moves, and I'm still thrilled by that thought.
  7. The problem is not getting overly emotional. It's flooding the site with numerous threads- many not much different than the others. Of course, posters can click and respond. A suggested boycott is not asking for a ban or any sort of punishment for positing on his threads. Many have told me to ignore his posts and threads. I, now, see the value in that advise and am trying to pass it on to others. You don't have to agree, but my thought is, if nobody responds, maybe he'll lessen the amount of new threads. Who knows? Maybe he'll get overly emotional about this strategy and go overboard with even more nonsensical threads just to make a point. It's not like he hasn't been politely told to not start similar or annoying/trolling threads.
  8. Sale should have pitched his rehab with the big club. Houck should never have missed a start. Now, it's rubbing off on Eovaldi.
  9. I'm very far from packing it in. Things can turn for the bad, quickly. They can turn for the good, too. (The question is if and when?)
  10. I know, I know, I'm the worst culprit, but the absurdity and repetition calls for a mass boycott.
  11. Rotation Collapse Richards First 11 starts" 3.75 ERA, .749 OPS Against (.318 BAbip) Last 10 starts 7.15 ERA, 1.014 OPS Against (.361 BAbip) Perez First 11 starts: 3.09 ERA, .658 OPS Against (.301 BAbip) Last 11 starts: 7.13 ERA, 1.073 OPS Against (.385 BAbip) Pivetta First 11 starts: 3.77 ERA, .657 OPS Against (.283 BAbip) Last 10 starts: 5.47 ERA, .831 OPS Against (.299 BAbip) ERod First 10 starts: 5.64 ERA, .832 OPS Against (.374 BAbip) Last 10 starts: 5.55 ERA, .745 OPS Against (.367 BAbip) Eovaldi First 11 starts: 4.01 ERA, .648 OPS Against (.316 BAbip) Last 10 starts (not counting tonight): 3.41 ERA, .727 OPS Against (.337 BAbip) 4.13 ERA after tonight in last 11 starts Look at the absurd BAbip numbers! Team Starters: to June 7 4.03 ERA 89 ERA- 3.95 xFIP 94 xFIP- .328 BAbip June 8 to before tonight: 5.44 ERA 121 ERA- 4.18 xFIP 99 xFIP- .339 BAbip
  12. Living in the past. First 11 starts: 3.09 ERA, .658 OPS Against (.301 BAbip) Last 11 starts: 7.13 ERA, 1.073 OPS Against (.385 BAbip)
  13. ERod is clearly a step up from Richards and Perez. Pivetta is another story. I do think Pivetta deserves the 5 slot but not by much. Hopefully Schwarber and Arroyo can boost the offence enough to help overcome any pitching shortcomings. I know it seems like relying on hope is not a good strategy, but I think it is realistic to see the upcoming changes should be positive: Sale> Richards Houck> Perez Schwarber> Dalbec Arroyo> Duran (Kike to CF) Bench improves, too
  14. If the panic button is starting Sale and Houck as soon as they are due to start, I’m all for banging on the button hard!
  15. At this point, I could care less. Give em a try in the pen, if you must try to save face or honestly think they can do better than who the replace, but just get them both out of the rotation NOW. Yesterday is even better.
  16. You know me. I am a very patient fan. I despise knee jerk reactionary arm chair QBing, but I’m all done with both of these guys. At least Perez gave us a nice 11 game stretch. Bye bye.
  17. Poor defense is one reason our pitching looks so bad and our BAbip is off the charts.
  18. Poor defense is one reason our pitching looks so bad and our BAbip is off the charts.
  19. Today, yes.
  20. He’s a HOF punter.
  21. Fear by opposing pitchers already.
  22. Sale and Houck should take Richards and Perez’s rotation slots. Period. Now! What we do with them is secondary. I’m fine with DFAing one or both, phantom IL, if possible. I would not call up Munoz or Wong, and I’m no big fan of Marwin. We just have to wait for Schwarber and Arroyo. Munoz makes some sense once he’s healthy, but Marwin is Cora’s guy. The Dalbec- Cordero platoon may be what we have to live through until Schwarber or Arroyo return.
  23. It’s come down to hoping and praying Sale, Houck, Schwarber and the return of Arroyo give us the boost we need at our highest need area.
  24. And Henry is filthy rich. How do you think these guys got where they are?
