  1. soxprospects.com has its new rankings with the draftees included: 1. Casas 21 2. Mayer 18 3. Duran 24 4. Downs 23 (passed by Duran) 5. Houck 25 (soon to be a post prospect) 6. Jimenez 21 7. Bello 22 (up 17 slots!) 8. Yorke 19 (up 2 slots) 9. Seabold 25 (down 2 slots) 10. Groome 22 (up 3) 11. Mata 22 12. Song 24 13. Jordan 18 (up 4 slots) 14. Winckowski 23 (up 13 slots) 15. Bonaci 19 16. McDonough 25. Howlett (up 15) 26. Hickey 27. Crawford 25 (not ranked last time!) 28. Decker 21 29. Paulino 19 (NR) 30. Cannon 23 (up 12) 31. Bazardo 25 (down 12) 32. Lira 17 (NR) 33. Rosario 21 (down 13) 34. Vaughn 19 (up 20) 35. Wu-Yellan 22 (up18) 36. Blalock 20 37. Drohan 22 (down 5) 38. Potts (down 17) 39. Fitzgerald 27 (NR) 40. Feltman 24 (down 10) 41-45. Walter, Lopez, Rafaela, Castellanos, V Santos 46-50. Perales, Liu, Kavadas, German, Gambrell 51-55. F Valdez, Granberg, de la Rosa, Adames, Koss 56-60. Mieses, T Reed, Groshans, Davis, Cruz I'm no expert on prospects, but it looks like our 11-45 prospects have improved greatly. Young ML level players: 24: Devers 25: Verdugo, Whitlock 26: Arroyo, Dalbec, Cordero
  2. ...and to a lesser extent, Arroyo, Brasier and maybe some others.
  3. Would that have put us over the top?
  4. I don't mean to pry, but whose groin did Schwarber tug?
  5. So, would anyone here have traded: Casas, Bello & Groome for Scherzer Duran & Ward for Kimbrel Jimenez & Seabold for Rizzo Hey, we'd still have Downs & Yorke!
  6. The Bleacher Report gave the Cubs an A for the trade... Chicago Cubs get: RHP Alexander Vizcaino and OF Kevin Alcantara The catch with the Yankees not picking up Rizzo's salary is that it required them to pay a hefty price in terms of prospects. Per MLB.com, Vizcaino and Alcantara ranked as New York's Nos. 9 and 12 prospects, respectively. Though his bout with arm soreness is a red flag, the former has a fastball that touches triple digits, while the latter has an intriguing mix of power and speed. Both have more development ahead of them, but good on the Cubs for turning a depreciated asset into two high-ceiling prospects. Grade: A Since the Yanks had a much better farm than us, at the time, it might have taken our 6th and 9th prospects to get him: Jimenez & Seabold -maybe Bello & Seabold.
  7. At least the Yanks and Astros lost.
  8. Except pitchers do worse with him than the back-up year after year. (Only Swihart did worse.)
  9. You think Scherzer, Rizzo & Kimbrel would have turned this putrid team (as many here now think they are) into a contender? If yes, would entirely emptying the farm, because that's what it would have taken, been worth a stab in the dark for one October?
  10. Soxprospects.com is always looking for writers with no pay.
  11. But 90 points less since 2020, nonetheless, and then there is the whole CERA Pandora's Box to open.
  12. I didn't say give him 350, but 250, maybe. BTW, Vaz has a career .692 OPS. Not much better.
  13. A) He got hurt from being so stiff from not playing. About time.
  14. Brett Phillips with the granny to put TBR up on the O's 9-5 in the 8th. Yanks tied 0-0 in the 7th with the M's. MN up on HOU 4-2 in the 5th. CWS play the Cubs tonight. Oak plays TX, soon.
  15. Despite Vaz's nice .801 OPS in 2021, here's an eye-opener: OPS 2020-2021 combined: .790 Plawecki (190 PAs) .700 Vaz (554 PAs) Why is Vaz on pace to reach his highest PA and inning numbers?
  16. You never see groin injuries in the OF.
  17. I get that, but it also seems like once they determine surgery is needed, they still wait a month or more.
  18. With his heart-related COVID issue, it's hard to know when or if he ever recovers fully. The team had an incredible winning record in his starts before 2020, and it had seemed like he had overcome the 110 pitch, 5 inning routine, as well. It's a close call, but I'd go with ERod, assuming they both are pitching like they have, this year when that scenario presents itself.
  19. I'm only posting this once on this thread during the game. What more do we need to see from Richards to DFA is A$$? I'm out.
  20. BTV still gives Downs a high value rating. Perhaps the next update will ding him down a notch. Here are their current values for our prospects: 48 Casas 45 Duran 24 Mayer 20 Downs 11 Jimenez 7 Yorke 6 Mata 5 Bello, Jordan 4 Groome. Gonzalez, Seabold 3 Winckowski, McDonough, Rosario, R Hernandez, Bonaci, Decker, Lugo, Ward 2 Bleise, Potts, FValdez, Wong, Murphy, Gonzalez OF, Lopez, Howlett, Bazardo, Cannon, Chacon, Davis, Rafaela 1-1.1 Song, Feliz, Kavadas, Marcano, Vaughn, Celluci, Liu, Wu-Yelland You really notice the lack of mid ranged prospects between 8-19. Maybe some below 8 will rise up in the next adjustments.
  21. Survival of the smartest.
  22. I get that, but once you know surgery is needed, why hold off? If they are not sure surgery is needed, I get why you wait, but in Sale's case, I think it was a given.
  23. Many teams hold off on surgery for what seems to be a ridiculous amount of time. Maybe jacko could explain why, better than I.
