    One side affect of yanking Eovaldi early is that maybe he can go longer in his next start or be used in relief, too. I’m sure even Cora would admit he has made several mistakes, this year, but in my opinion he has made less than maybe every other MLB manager. I’ve scratched my head a few times and vocalized some differences, but I’ve always felt he’s been our best or second best manager, since I’ve paid any attention (post Dick Williams.)

    Yes, I said I’d have left him in, and there is no way of knowing what the right move was. The near homer off Brasier does not prove anything. I disagreed with the call, but not Cora. He knows more than both of us combined and then some... IMO, of course.

    I didn’t say my expectations, and I based mine on more than just 2020. I looked at 2019, too, and all the moves Bloom made from the 2020 deadline to opening day and then this deadline. I’ m happy we improved greatly, because in baseball, nothing can be taken for granted. I don’t think it is “loser talk” to be happy with a big step in the right direction, even if we fall short this series against a very good team- a team with the second best record from 20 to 21. Of course, I want us to keep winning and will be upset, if we lose, but this was a good season, no matter what. That’s not defeatist thinking, and I’m sure our players aren’t thinking like that, and if they were I’d be surprised and pissed, but it’s true. If anyone thinks the season is a failure, if we lose to theRays, I’ll think your wrong, but everyone is entitled to their opinion, even when wrong. Lol

    If he’d left Nate in and Stanton homered, would you have thought it was a good move? Wel’ll always only know one side’s results, and hindsight talk will always be speculative, but hey, that’s one thing this site is for. IMO, if Stanton HR’d off Brasier I’d have thought, well I got that one right or equal, at worst, but I’d still think Cora gets way more right that I do and most other managers, but that’s just my opinion. If they left Eovaldi in, and Stanton HRd I’d have sympathized with those that felt he should have been yanked, but also trusted Cora knows more than we do...

    They exceeded a lot of people’s expectations, but I’m with you on not thinking they overachieved. I called 86 wins “before free agent signings,” and we came pretty close. I think we can eat anybody, but I would not make us the faves. I’ll be pissed if we lose, but still view the season as a plus and a big step in the right direction.

    Now, who is putting words in others’ mouths? Who is going on and on? I said I was wrong about implying and saying you hate Cora, but you keep bringing it up like I’m still saying or thinking you said that. You didn’t. I’m sorry for saying you did. I disagree with your opinion but am far from thinking it’s a crime let alone of the century. Why not actually respond to what I said and asked? You gave two opposite opinions on bringing Cora back and then denied it.

    No. You said you did not want to fire him right now, so that means the offseason- commonly referred to as "winter," but I guess it could be fall. Wow, you got me! BTW, I wasn't referring to changing your mind after last night's game: Mr. technical. I asked you several days ago, just to see if you really meant what you said. You avoided answering, nit-picked about semantics, and then today, denied you wanted him fired. Own up, dude. I'm fine with your opinion, but just be consistent and own up to it.

    The mirage is the players on IL. The Yanks look at their "healthy roster" and drool all over the place, and I can't say that I blame them, but when they lead the league in IL days year-after-year, it's not a fluke, and it should be part of evaluating a team's "on paper" talent level. One last point on injuries: while the Sox may have gotten "lucky" on injuries, the Rays did not. They had over a dozen players on the 60 day IL, including Tyler Glasnow, Yonny Chirinos (all year), Jalen Beeks (all year) and their closer, Nick Anderson (6 IP, this year) plus many others...

    Walks with men on base are better than outs, so when 2 guys have a .300 BA but one has a .300 OBP and the other .400, who do you want up late in a game with men on base? The guy who makes an out 70% of the time or 60%? Do you want a guys singling or doubling? It matters.

    I never pretend my opinion is better than the manager, nor do I see it as a criticism, for that very reason. Cora is a great manager and knows a hell of a lot more than I do, and even if I had access to all his information, I'd still be worse than he is.

    In the game thread, I brought up how nice it was for a Sox pitcher to finally go hard up and in on Stanton. I felt he needed that, all year. When you do that the down and aways usually work better.

    I'm not beating a dead horse. You basically said, it's "not just me" who wants him fired, this winter, then just said "I did not say fire Cora, this winter." You said two seeming opposite things, so I asked. If I misrepresented your opinion(s), I'm sorry. I also asked you a few times, if you still wanted him gone after this season, and you never relied, so it's not like I keep asking you something you've already answered. I'm fine with you having a different opinion, but I just wanted to see if your opinion had changed. I'm still not sure, after today's statement.

    Since the WC playoff system started in 1995, no AL team has ever made the ALCS 5 years in a row. The Astros have a chance, this year. They play CWS round one. (The Braves did it in the NL- I think the first 5 years.)

    I don't think Plawecki's .673 career OPS vs LHPs or even his .794, this year is enough to start him over Dugo.

    I never stated either of those things. I gave my opinion on what I would have done. We don't know what would have happened had they not taken out Pedro or had they left in Eovaldi. They got a bloop hit off Pedro and a near HR and base-running blunder off Brasier. Who knows what happens otherwise? You?

    No doubt. I was on pins and needles, too, but I'd have been stuck with needles and pins with almost anyone else.

    Why do you feel I felt like I wanted to ruin a season? I have been one of the true believers for longer than almost everyone else, this year. I have confidence we can advance to the next level of the playoffs. My views on what I think Sox managers should do mean nothing to the actual results.
