  1. Especially, if we sign Simmons and Bryant, although losing JD and Bogey's salaries add some to the pool.
  2. The beef has always been about their pitching, but allowing less runs than the Rays is surprising.
  3. Like Manny did for Damon in the playoffs!
  4. True. Ideally, Kike plays CF. I'm thinking maybe this is best for 2022: JD Opts out Trade Bogey for a pitcher- sign Simmons Move Devers to 1B Dalbec moves to DH Sign Kris Bryant to play 3B Sign Scherzer Sign R Iglesias 1. Kike CF 2. Bryant 3B 3. Devers 1B 4. Renfroe RF 5. Dalbec DH 6. Verdugo LF 7. Simmons SS 8. Arroyo 2B 9. Vaz C Scherzer, Sale, ___(Trade from Bogey)___, Eovaldi, Pivetta, Seabold Iglesias, Houck, Whitlock, Barnes, Richards, Taylor, DHern, Sawamura
  5. I agree. I've been ragging on our D all year, but benching our hottest hitter stings.
  6. Close call might be this better offensive lineup: Hernandez 2B Schwarber LF Bogey SS Devers 3B Renfroe RF JD DH Verdugo CF Dalbec 1B Vaz C
  7. No, there is no way a pitcher better than ERod signs a one year deal. As of right now, I’d hope he refuses, we get the pick and sign someone better for a longer term. The problem is, I’m not high on Gausman or Syndergaard as the types of pitchers we waited years to sign to long term deals. Maybe Scherzer or Kershaw to a deal under 3-4 years might be best, but at todays prices, maybe punting with a 1 year deal with ERod is best, then trade for another.
  8. 13 pretty easy games coming up. Even without some key players, the wins are there for the taking. If you don’t make a move now, while your competitors have tougher schedules, don’t expect to do it later when things flip.
  9. Sox, Yanks and Jays all have 62 losses. SEA & OAK both have 64 losses. Sox have 80 wins Yanks 78 Jays 77 SEA & OAK 76
  10. Yanks hit a couple solo blasts in the 9th but lost, AGAIN!
  11. Post on the Yankee thread. He always responds, there.
  12. Stop calling smart posters names!
  13. Never have I come close to saying ERod sucks. I’m the guy who keeps posting how the team wins so much when he pitches- all the way back to 2018. His COVID issues were real and can have long term effects. He’s a risk at any price. I would not give him $19M x 5, but one year is a close call, to me. As of right now, I’d do it, but would not be upset if Bloom passes on the QO. ERod does not suck!
  14. It might depend how he finishes, since I thinks it’s a close call. 1 year offer: make it. Get the comp pick, if he says no. Pay high for one year, if he says yes.
  15. Makes sense, unless we sign Schwarber to play 1B.
  16. That’s turning an oh for four night into something special!
  17. Hurt or not, injury prone or not, Arroyo was a nice find. We got him off waivers at min cost. Sure, Renfroe, Kike and Whitlock were better finds, but that doesn’t mean Arroyo was not a good find.
  18. We sure sat first rounder Chavis enough. Again, I’m not calling Arroyo Lou.
  19. Yorke hit a granny last night.
  20. I don’t either, but we really are not losing in this area to other teams. There was a time we were among the top teams in starter IP, but then poof. Then, the pen imploded.
  21. I do, too. His D needs serious improvement, but I think his bat will be more than fine.
  22. Damn good bargain, especially since we had great needs at the 2 positions he plays, well. He way more than earned $7M. Had he been able to play CF all year, his WAR would be higher. (I think he still leads the team in bWAR!)
  23. I've never been one to think GMs significantly change how they value a player over a 1 month sample size. The value may change a little, but not by as much as we may think. Even 2-3 month samples may not move the needle much, unless it's extremely good or bad. As for being blocked: 1B is our weakest position. DH is open after 2022. Our 3Bman is being discussed for a positional change. There is more room for Dalbec than Duran in 2022: LF: Verdugo (Cordero), JD in NL Parks CF: Kike RF: Renfroe
