  1. Is Baez faster than Duran and Locastro?
  2. With Boyd, my guess is they think he's worth less than the arb estimate of about $7M and think they can do better from withinthe system of by signing a better pitcher for $7M or an equal pitcher for less than $7M. Renfroe and Boyd are both estimated at $7M, but Renfroe has another arb year. Would anyone trade Renfroe for Boyd?
  3. It may help some defenders, particularly OF'ers, make up for bad breaks on the ball or poor route-taking to still make the play, but yes, speed, alone does not make a defender great. The quickness vs speed aspect is important. I think Devers is quick (as in reflexes), but not too fast.
  4. YES! Speed and quickness up the middle on defense was common with both these managers.
  5. I'm thinking, if we sign Baez, we are telling Bogey, "You are playing 2B or 3B or bye bye."
  6. I'd lean no, unless we trade Bogey or he readily agrees to play 2B in 2022. I'd probably go $114/6.
  7. Maybe he gets $114M/6.
  8. He was the best of the best. Sparky's comment makes sense, too, especially in an era where speed was more important- on defense and offense.
  9. I'll wait to reinstate him in my top 10. I'd probably put Song there, too, but I'll wait on him, too.
  10. It was sarcasm. I think Maeda's production will end up being better than Downs+Wong, but it's not a clear choice.
  11. BTV hated Boyd, then liked him, and now back to the dumps. I think the Tigers hold on to him, if all they can get is Franchy- who cleared waivers. He should not ne non tendered- even at a $7M arb cost.
  12. Yes, one-third of $300M is $100M. That's what he will likely get. (Maybe a 6th year option with a $5M buyout making it $105M/5.)
  13. True, but we could have benched him, if that's what we wanted all along.
  14. Baez might get $100M/5. Let's not say he's near the money those others will be getting.
  15. It sure is, but I see him busting out, next year. This guys is great.
  16. Mookie got much more than $28M x 8, which is the max I think Bogey could get.
  17. Good to see they have Mayer #1. I'd go... 1. Mayer 2. Casas 3. Yorke 4. Bello 5. Duran 6. Jordan 7. Downs 8. Winckowski 9. Seabold 10. Groome
  18. In hindsight, yes, but even, now, it's a close call. I think I'd rather have had Maeda than Wong & Downs, but certainly that could prove to be the wrong answer. (Nothing against Downs or Wong; I just like pitching more.)
  19. I just pointed out that we pretty much know one pitcher we could have gotten, since he was traded for Graterol. It's a close call, but at the time, I wanted Maeda and his very team-friendly contract. I'd probably still say yes.
  20. Too many judge players on small sample sizes.
  21. He's going to look for $30M x 10 and maybe settle for $28M x 8.
  22. True, but two points to add: 1. Maeda pitched in relief quite a bit some of those years. 2. I might rather have Maeda at the low cost he signed for than Wong and Downs.
  23. Well, we know almost certainly we could have gotten Kenta Maeda.
  24. According to BTV, we could get Montas and Trivino for Duran and one of Downs or Dalbec but maybe we’d need to give up Duran, Dalbec and Groome.
  25. Depends what GMs think of him and some others. We could trade Duran, Dalbec and Downs and go 3-D.
