  1. Money spent on 2022 and beyond, including trades and the Barnes extension that starts in 2022 (not counting arb avoidance signings): JBJ: 22:$9.5M player option, 23:$12M mutual option ($8M buyout) $12M Lux # Paxton: 1 year/$10M (2022), plus 2023 or 2023-24 options $10M Lux # Barnes: 22:$7.25M, 23:$7.5M, 24:$8M club option ($2.25M buyout) $9.4M Lux # Wacha: 1 year/$7M (2022) $7M Lux # Vaz: 22:$7M club option ($0.25M buyout) $7M Lux # Hill: 1 year/$5M (2022) #5M Lux # Diekman: 2 years/$8M (2022-23), plus 2024 club option $4M Lux # Strahm: 1 year/$3M (2022) $3M Lux # Robles: ??? Lux # ??? That's over $57M for 9 players. (Over $41M on 7 players not counting Vaz and Barnes.) I was hoping we'd spend $40-55M on 4-5 players- not 7. This building the farm and 40 man roster depth strategy era has gone on long enough. This year, it appears we are leaving money on the table, in terms of being significantly under the tax line.
  2. Huge differences all winter long. Clear spenders. Clear tankers. Clear do-nothings.
  3. So, Robles is added. Paxton is already on the 60 day. Do we add Sale to the 60 day or cut someone?
  4. If we end up signing Story to anything near what Baez got, there should be some explaining to do. (Other names, too.)
  5. Hey, Bloom finally quieted the lefty pen talk. Man! $16M/1 from the Braves. Some teams appear to not care about spending.
  6. Of all the FAs to get serious about, this just doesn't make sense, to me. I guess we can wait and see the money it takes to sign Story, but I can't see the price lowering to a point where it does make sense. Now, if we do sign him, it makes even less sense to play him at 2B and the worse defender at SS. To me, we might as well just trade Bogey to a team that lost out on Story and Correa. Again, this make too little sense to me. Plus, we've been teased enough this winter, and getting teased about a player who is not a fit and not worth the money baffles me. This also puts Bogey in a tough spot: agree to move positions to help the team or demand a trade.
  7. What's the tax at $60M+?
  8. That was one area I thought the players might give something up. So, there is a limit, a $20M, $40M and $60M line, or just one at $20M and $80M ($60 M above)??
  9. What did the end up agreeing on for the tax rate for level 1 and level 2?
  10. Why do we need to trade "for" them?
  11. Tyler Anderson to... where else... LAD for $8M/1
  12. I think the whole lefties in the pen thing is being blown out of proportion. 5 of our top 6-7 RP'ers are righties. The rest will fight for innings and mop up chances. R Whitlock R Houck R Barnes L Taylor R Brasier R Sawamura/ L Diekman/ L Strahm/ L DHern/ L A Davis/ R Valdez If we move Houck or Whitlock to the rotation, we'll still have 3 of our top 4-5 RP'ers as RHPs.
  13. So, maybe the 3.1 value BTV gave Voit was a tad high. Voit 3.1 Lange 1.7
  14. That remains to be seen. Pablito did hit .778 the last 2 years of his deal while with SF. That's more than Correa has hit in 2 of his last 4 seasons. BTW, Correa is at .811 over the last 4 years, combined- certainly not "elite" as someone keeps repeating over and over. That's not a whole lot better than Story's career away OPS of .752. (Not meant as an endorsement of Story.)
  15. Yankees? 8 Volpe 60 Peraza 61 Dominguez 96 Wells
  16. It was weird that Nomar was going to move off SS for Arod, then the deal fell through, and although Nomar was no stellar defender at SS, nobody was as bad as Jeter.
  17. Agreed. He was not my idea of a worthy plan B, but at this point, if Story is the plan B, I'm not sure about much of anything.
  18. I feel the pain, but all the deals are not done, yet. Maybe Bloom is waiting to pounce on the left-overs.
  19. The Padres are the type of team that would want guys like Voit or Torres- not the A's/
  20. That may happen at the deadline.
  21. Agreed, you either trade Bogey or move Bogey to 2B. (BTW, when the Yanks got ARod, they should have moved Jeter not ARod off SS.)
  22. We just signed old friends Travis Shaw and Deivy Grullon to minor league deals. Bloom is el fuego!
