  1. We heard you were deep, last year, too.
  2. Robo Umps would not have stopped this... Must watch! Crazy! https://www.audacy.com/971theticket/sports/1974-cardinals-cubs-melee-may-be-wildest-baseball-brawl-ever?utm_campaign=www.audacy.com%252F971theticket&utm_content=1635788702&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&utm_term=WXYT-FM&fbclid=IwAR1qq9rD9y4Y8XhHtqJ3zLP26qSgHM-9gswt1SABUF2823tNBVArHwZcWrg
  3. Pretty much how I view the absurdity of the "human element" argument. Why is this even part of the game, if it doesn't have to be?
  4. You'd wait until after the Rule 5 set date, to see if Jimenez was protected or not. If he is protected, you might trade for him. If not, you might wait, unless you think someone else might nab him before your pick. Yes, Potts and Rosario can pick any team, but if you are willing to trade for players likely to be DFA'd, you probably like them more than others and might offer them the highest contract.
  5. I still ask, how is even a 2 or 3% error rate a fun and exciting part of baseball? The "human element" in players is part of the game. They make mistakes, and it is certainly part of the game. Bad calls should not be, and more importantly, need not be part of the game.
  6. OAK can just wait until we DFA Potts and Rosario, then draft Jimenez in Rule 5. In a sense, they just get Seabold.
  7. Ok, that makes sense. Trading promising pitchers should be avoided more than everyday players.
  8. I'm not saying replace mayer or Casas with Jordan. He's clearly a step or three below, but I was comparing him more to Gonzalez on your list.
  9. .700 is reasonable, but .675 would not force him to be DFA'd or used much less. I expect he might start 100-120 games, at most, but come in for D in more.
  10. I think Potts and Rosario are both DFA'd. We may DFA Arauz, if we plan on adding a decent utility IF'er. We need room for at least 3-4 FAs, too. What's the chances of us just trading Jimenez or trading him and someone else for 1 forty man roster guy? I know other teams have roster crunches, too, but maybe not that bad. Like... Bazardo & Jimenez for a better or more hopeful RP'er?
  11. I don't know how much other GMs value Downs or Groome/Seabold or even Ward & Jimenez. Would OAK do Duran, Seabold and Groome for the two? Duran, Downs and one of Seabold/Groome?
  12. I'm not signing Iggy for anything more than .675 on offense. I'm more worried about his ability to play 145+ games.
  13. Agreed. I might sub Jordan for Gonzalez, but it's close.
  14. Duran and Downs? They might want pitching: Duran and Mata Duran and Seabold Duran, Groome and Winckowski
  15. I'd have Iggy as the starting 2Bman and Arroyo at utility, in hopes he can't get hurt sitting on the bench.
  16. Even if they fixed their system of choosing who umps playoff games and axed the worst umps, every year, I'm not accepting any percent as being fun and exciting.
  17. No mention of Iggy for 2B & back up SS? All sounds reasonable. I like the 2 years of Montas much more than 1 for Bassit or Manaea. Of course, he will cost more, but I think Duran has the value to start an acceptable package for Montas & Trevino.
  18. I meant their biggest spending on one player was Richards ($10M). Their third most, after Kike at $7M was Perez at $6M.
  19. That's how I see it. I'd like him back, but at that cost, I think the money can probably be spent better.
  20. How is adding 10% wrong calls making this sort of “human element” enjoyable for anyone at all? I guess I’m missing what makes bad calls fun or exciting.
  21. The 26th slot changes things, too.
  22. For a long time I thought no. But now I’m thinking chances are he bolts.
  23. I think 2022 is probably a better chance but we do lose a bunch of salary after 2022. No Price, JD, Eovaldi, Vaz, and Bogey. Now, some of those guys are important pieces to a winning team, but the combined money can bring a lot of talent.
  24. That was their biggest move- signing Richards. That was a huge gain... lol.
  25. I was responding to Nick's point about needing to go large to make up 8 games. I thought some context was needed. I'm fine with going large, and my point about this winter has been mostly based on us being able to spend about the same amount we spent last year on 10 players, but doing it on 4-5, this winter. That should be close to enough to make up 8 games, assuming TB does not improve, too.
