  1. Unless we get lucky, no. More like a Kluber or Richards type. I should have said $10M SP 4/5.
  2. Doing so well might have caused Henry to put off spending big for another year. Maybe do just enough to keep fans thinking he cares about winning.
  3. I thought we were done with this subject? LOL
  4. My thought is towards improving SS D without losing a whole lot, if any, on offense. I like Semien & Baez more than Bogey, if the prices are similar.
  5. If we have $40M to spend, we may go... $18M ERod $10M SP3 $9M RP $3M Iggy
  6. Here are a few randomly selected middle of the road pitchers- career ... 3rd time/ overall .754/.750 Porcello .752/.717 S Wright .790/.746 Wake .803/.782 A Sele .828/.772 Bob Stanley (as SP) .629/.696 (as RP)
  7. I go to live football games, and several times a game, I'm thinking, "I wish I was home watching on TV, so I could see the replay on that one."
  8. I'm wondering what the league averages were back then and even just 3-10 years ago.
  9. The roster depth can only go so far. He did such a good job last winter, that he's only got 4-5 slots, now. I guess he could make some 2 or 3 for 1 deals to add more quality depth, but other teams are usually not looking for 3 players that need to be on the 40 man roster, right now. Most teams are looking at roster crunches. Can we upgrade on guys like Davis, Sawamura, Valdez, Plawecki, Bazardo and the expected DFAs- Potts & Rosario, but I think we go more towards upgrading quality over quantity, this winter. We need to fill these slots: SP __________ (ERod?) SP __________ (Richards/Perez) RP___________ (Ottavino) RP___________ (Andriese/Robles) Utility ________ (Marwin/Iggy)
  10. If we extend Bogey at the price guys like Semien or Baez get, what is the advantage Bogey gives us?
  11. I'm thinking they'd rather have Stroman and Gausman for just a little more $$/yr than Scherzer.
  12. I think this whole 3rd time through thing really adds value to guys like Houck and Whitlock, who can go 2-3+ innings every 3-4 days.
  13. Is this something managers and organizations just noticed, recently, or are pitchers just doin much worse once they face batters 3+ times in a game? Career 3rd/4th: .669/.676 Scherzer (.650 career overall) .654/.658 B Gibson (.622) .604/.711 Pedro (.613) .656/.684 Clemens (.636) .684/.659 Maddux (.649)
  14. It's surprising they left him in for 193 PAs. It's only because he "looked so great" the first two times through. How many Jays' posters would have bashed him has the pulled him earlier?
  15. Career OPS Against 3rd time through line-up: .738 Stroman .757 Gausman .764 ERod .910 R Ray
  16. Think of the thousands of missed calls since the 1800's as players separated from the bag by a millimeter for a split second, and the blind ump missed the obvious call.
  17. I have our winter spending budget at about $35-40M without going over or much over the tax line, so yes. Unless henry agrees to spend $60-70M, this winter, Scherzer is not coming here.
  18. You can bring up team splits and get all Sox pitchers by year (see my last post).
  19. It would take forever to look at each pitchers and with no way to find career or recent 3-4 year numbers without a masters in Math. The 2021 Sox numbers: Team .743 first time .715 second time .900 third time (There were only 16 PAs by opps on thier 4th time up vs a SP'er - .615.) .673 Perez (65 PAs Against) The pitcher seemingly yanked quicker than anyone else! .780 Eovaldi (182 PAs against) .819 Sale (26) .924 Richards (112) 1.011 Pivetta (119) 1.016 ERod 9126) 1.489 Houck (18) 2020 .222 Houck (only 9 PAs) .571 Perez (49) 1.200 Eovaldi (43) 2019 .466 Eovaldi (39) .612 Sale (157) .761 (ERod (232)
  20. If another team offers Scherzer more than $40M x 2, LA will likely go something like $36M x 3.
  21. Yes. I posted it.
  22. Is there any way to find out who the best pitchers are when facing batters the third time through the line-up? My guess is they throw 4+ types of pitches and will be worth a lot of money.
  23. I was thinking the same, but those who do go 5 or do well enough the third time through May be worth close to projected values.
  24. Garcia had 29 HRs and an .820 OPS. How much is a bag of balls worth. Are the golden balls?
  25. I doubt even LA offers 3 years.
