Dalbec did about as well as Schwarber in the second half. Arroyo is still going to play and should get more PAs than 2021, so why are we "subbing him out?"
We may add someone like Schwarber, again, at the deadline.
Our O should be just as good. Expect a bounce back by Vaz.
Here's the rub: Cora gave these guys this much rope:
OPS
.567 Marwin over 271 PAs in 77 games
.497 Cordero over 136 PAs & 48 games
.597 Santana over 127 PAs & 38 games
.578 Duran over 112 PAs & 33 games
Chavis & Arauz had 157 PAs combined and an OPS around .600
But, then again, he stuck with...
Renfroe after 68PAs at .485 to start the season.
He went .859 in his last 504 PAs of the season.
Kike (some at leadoff) after 222 PAs at .650 to start the season.
He hit ,874 in his last 363 PAs and then absolutely raked in 52 postseason PAs.
Yes, Houck and Whitlock are the starter depth. Maybe Winckowski, Crawford or Seabold can surprise, but as of now, the two guys from the pen are it.
Cora has worked wonders with suspect pens, so maybe he can keep that mojo going.
