    I think Hicks will be fine, if healthy all year. Last year, Higgy had over half the PAs as Sanchez as a catcher (209 to 409), so you had some weakness at the bottom, last year, too. The SS drop off on offense will be plentiful, but the gains on defense he brings at SS, plus the gains you make at 2B and 1B, because of him should be worth it.

    The Story signing might hint the Sox agree. (Interesting that they gave Story $140M/6 and offered Bogey only $90M/4. Maybe they do value defense more than some do.)

    Here's a short list of some big and semi-big names: Syndergaard (30) deGrom (35) Eovaldi(33) Kershaw (35) Manaea (31- I mentioned him because he's younger) At these ages, maybe Syndergaard is the only guy worth both "large" and "long." Some are worth large. Manaea might be worth long.

    Not being on the 40 man roster hurts. He'll have to really shine for 4-6 more starts to be considered, IMO.

    Agreed. I'm not sure they'd jump Bello or Groome from AA ahead of Winckowksi, Seabold, DHern or Pannone (not on 40.)- all of whom are also doing well.

    When and where did I even hint is was "simple." I think a lot of thought goes into the timing on going "over" and "under." It's not simple. The year 2013 looked like they were heading for an under, but when things looked bright, they spent big during the summer and ended up adding a lot of salary from the previous off season. I agree, it's hard to tell where they go from here. Next winter will be a unique situation as so much salary comes off the books. Just staying even with this year's budget would mean spending more than maybe we ever have in one winter.

    I'm watching Hamilton & Binelas closely. I liked the idea of upgrading the defense, but I did not view RF as even bottom 3 defensive position, last year.

    Of course, and that is where Bloom parted ways. At some point, we need to move on from the Price signing. It wasn't as horrific as CC's deal. He did help us win a ring. I love some of our young pitchers on the farm, but I feel like we will need to splurge on a pitcher, at some point, if we want to reach the promise land, again.

    I think Pivetta can average 5 or more per start.

    I think many teams have 4 starters expected to go just 3-4.2 innings or no third time through the line-up.
