  1. This team will not go cheap, like BAL did. Fans will be pissed, but if they got over Betts, I'm not sure why Bogey would be the last straw. Now, Betts, Bogey, then Devers, maybe, but only if fans think the team sucks and or is getting worse looking farther ahead. To me, Betts leaving is 10 times worse than Bogey. Devers leaving would be 8-10 times worse. Fans get over crap like this. Hell, we once traded Lester, Lackey, Peavy, Doubront and Miller all at once, and fans shut up after the ring a few years later.
  2. I have more faith in Valdez than Diekman, but with the contracts involved, it's understandable. Besides, maybe Valdez ends up staying in our minors as a non 40 man guy. Whoopie!!!
  3. The only unequivocal star player we might get back for Bogey, would be another 2 month rental that plays a different position, and even that is highly improbable. It's 2 months of Bogey- not 6 years.
  4. Indeed. At least Verdugo is okay on D.
  5. It’s like his comments after being a slouch. It only adds to the puzzlement. He caved on the vax. I’m not impressed or feeling any need to “give credit. I’d trade him over Dugo, because he’ll bring back more.
  6. Then, the comments, afterwards, as I heard third person, cemented my disdain for Duran.
  7. Agreed. He may not even be able to get to a -2 DRS CF'er.
  8. I see why we are playing him in CF, now. Verdugo can't play anywhere but LF. Having 2 LF-ONLY OF'ers necessitates the trading of one of them by the start of 2023. This deadline might bring a better return, since both have more than 1 year of team control, but one must be gone by 2023. I would not be upset, if both were gone, assuming we add other OF'er between now and then.
  9. I can keep telling you, but it doesn't seem to matter. The Sale extension sucked. The JBJ trade made my scalp bleed from the scratching. The Price signing sucked, but for the ring. I'm not saying an equal suck with Sale's contract. Sale has 2 years to contribute to a ring, and he's even with Price- in my book. Maybe not yours, but why are you asking me pointless questions?
  10. Like he instantly knew, it was Dugo's ball. I have my doubts. It looked to me, like he chose to pout. Just my opinion.
  11. It goes way beyond that play. You know the other issue about Duran and "taking one for the team," and I know you disagree with my position on that, but I'm done with Duran. He will never come close to being my favorite Sox player. If we keep him, I'll cheer for him, but that's about it. Sorry, if I disappoint you, but I don't like his attitude, and his defense has not improved.
  12. Of course, it's a small sample size, and I'm not making a point the Bogey and JD are chokes. I don't even believe in "clutch" as a skill. The fact is, JD and Bogey have not delivered, when needed, this year. Verdugo and others have done better or much better. I'm not implying anything beyond that.
  13. I totally agree, but that does not lessen the need to hit with men on, and those that don't are open to criticism. (Just don't call them "chokes.")
  14. While Price did not suck for us, and a 118 ERA+ is good, that's not what we paid him to give us. Only 588 IP in 4 seasons was the kicker. Sure, that's more than Sale has given us, but I wasn't comparing those numbers. If Sale is part of a ring team in 2023 or 2024, will he be absolved, like Price was? I have no doubt, that if we did not win a ring in 2018, most would have viewed Price's deal as an overall failure. (I'm not even bringing up the fact that we paid him $32M not to pitch for us, at a time where money was extremely tight.)
  15. Even 16 years vs 8 years?
  16. It's by a long shot.
  17. It only took one playoff season for some people to forget Price's deal.
  18. I figured a healthy Sale was worth maybe close to $145M/4 on the open market, and they gave him $145M/5, figuring he'd likely miss a season. I thought the signing was risky, especially with the injury, but he had comeback in September of 2018 and K'd 18 in 12 IP (1BB & 11 Hits) There was some hope, he'd not miss a year, too. As it turned out, it was a miserable choice to make, and Bloom has paid the price more than DD.
  19. Attitude Poor D It's my M.O. My point is more about not wanting Verdugo AND Duran back, next season. They both should only be left fielders, and there is only one LF in baseball.
  20. I'm much more hopeful about 2023 than 2022. Muchisimo!
  21. With every Winckowski start, the Beni trade is looking better and better, especially when you consider Beni's control years end soon. The other 4 players we got in the trade may end up being useless, but the trade might still be a good one. (Also, with the money we saved on Beni, we signed Renfroe.)
  22. True, but Vaz, JBJ and Cordero have much better RBI per PA with RISP and men on base than JD and Bogey. Dalbec and others have been pathetic in these areas. RISP PAs- RBIs 90-30 Vaz 56-20 Cordero 81-27 JBJ 85-15 Dalbec 38-7 Arroyo 24-6 Duran 24-3 Plawecki Men on Base 131-33 Vaz 124-27 JBJ 102-23 Cordero 128-16 Dalbec 51-11 Arroyo 46-6 Duran 43-5 Plawecki
  23. Are you ignoring the fact that Bogey has 10 more PAs with men on base than Verdugo but 14 less RBI with men on base? Also, although Verdugo has 17 more PAs with men on base than JD, he has 16 more RBI in those PAs. How about just runners in scoring position, only? PAs- RBI 117- 34 Bogey 114- 37 Verdugo 110- 30 JD Here, the gap is lower, but still shows Verdugo with more RBI per PA than our two studs. Here is an interesting stat: man on 1B (alone): PAs- RBI 85-1 Bogey (0 HR) 78-12 Verdugo (4 HR) 75-15 Devers (6 HR) 72-5 Story (2 HR) 65-3 JD (1 HR) RBIs are largely a result of how often and how many men are on base in front of you, you still have to knock them in. Dugo has done that more than JD & Bogey.
