  1. Yup, and then the SP'ers fell like dominoes and Newcomb sucked as a starter.
  2. We are the only AL team not to sign a MLB FA
  3. Not really. He has added some, too, but it has gotten worse.
  4. Donovan has 2 arbs left. This year is estimated to be about $6M. I think BTV has his value at $32M. Sox Players $46 Duran $25 Bello $22 Crawford $19 Campbell $18 Casas & Witherspoon $8 Romero $7 Harrison $6 Eyanson
  5. You might be right, but it seems like more a move for the future and not 2026. This does not seem like the moment to go that road.
  6. Priester would have gotten a shot, as we ended up trying everybody, trading for Dustin May and then adding 2 rookies to the 40 befre we needed to meet Rule 5 requirements. That being said, he was maybe 10th to 12 on our depth chart and was not viewed as likely to get a chance to pitch, so I get why we did it.
  7. That won't last, but I do wonder if Brez might just sign 1-2 minor FAs and make one more big trade.
  8. It's rather stunning the amount of trades Brez has made this winter. He made that real big one, last winter and few others along the way and before, but this whole roster and system is fast becoming almost half his in just 2 years. Chapman is 18th in seniority on the 40. Brez's prospects rank: 1 Tolle, 4 Witherspoon, 6 Bennett, 7 Gonzales, 8 Soto, 9. Sandlin, 10. Phillips. 11 Eyanson, 12 Godbout, 16. Holobetz, 20. Azocar, 21. Watson, 23. Delzine, 24. Ramos, 25. Rivas, 29. Samanieg0, 30 Cason. 31. Guzman, 32. Heyman, 33 Primera, 35. TYgart, 36. YRod, 37 White, 38. McShane, 40 Rivera. That's 7 of the top 10. 11 of top 20 18 of top 30 26 of top 40 10 to 12 of the 26 could be his additions.
  9. I might be too high on Holobetz, but Marcus Phillips, the comp pick we got in that trade, might end up being the biggest prize. (YRod is still young enough- 20- to turn things around, too.)
  10. Soto and Azocar both show great potential. It's sort of like a shot in the dark on this thing. I kinda like Delzine & Cason, too. My dark horse not so young would be Johanfran Garcia.
  11. I kinda felt the same about trading Yorke for Priester, then trading Priester for 3 prospects, then...
  12. I realize the future production by Duran is kind of hard to project, but Vientos and Tong are very suspect, going forward. I'm kinda looking for something more like a sure bet. I don't project Vientos to outhit Duran, so we'd take another step back on offense, after already losing Devers, Bregman, Refsnyder and D Lowe. The Contreras gain at 1B is significant, but he and Anthony can't make up for all that loss and then add Duran to the loss list. I'd feel better about trading Duran, if we got a solid #2 SP'er or someone like KMart or even Donovan plus something else from STL or a third team involved. Duran to PHI Painter & Hicks to STL Donovan to BOS
  13. I agree. I do, however, see some deals that have been made that don't look all that bad, including Alonso's. I see his deal as 1 year too long, and maybe $31M AAV is $1-2M too high, but I could see the reasoning to match that. (I like the Contreras deal more, so I'm fine with the 2 year deal for him.) I'd have matched the $40M/2 for Polanco, but maybe Brez can do better. $20M/1 for Kim is an overpay, but for 1 year, I might have given $21M, but again, let's see what Brez does about 2B/3B. $7.8M/1 for Gregory Soto looked fine. In this light, it's hard to be pissed at Brez for missing out on these 4 deals.
  14. Bichette is the right age, but I would not make him the exception.
  15. With so many pitchers and pitching prospects traded away, and a few added, this could be how we start 2026, in terms of rotations by level: MLB: Crochet, Gray, Bello, Oviedo, Sandoval (Maybe Crawford/Harrison in pen) AAA: Crawford, Harrison, Tolle, Early, Uberstine/Drohan (Sandlin/Mullins in pen) AA: Bennett, Holobetz, Rivera, Wehunt, Rogers/Dean A+: Valera, Witherspoon, Phillips, Eyanson, Tygart/Neely A-: J Bello, Patton, Morgan, Brown, Finley/ Y Ruiz
  16. How many posters think by signing Bregman or Bichette, we'd look better on paper than 2025? Would signing Suarez make us better? How about Rafaela, Crawford, Mullins and Holobetz for KMarte? Better, the same or worse? No way do we do two of these deals.
  17. Agreed, although Anthony is about as near to be proven as can be. Even if Fenway's RF was not the most difficult RF in MLB, I'd keep Abreu. I love defense up the middle, and even I would rather trade Rafaela than Abreu. (Needing offense is what tips the balance, there. If we traded for KMarte, I'd be okay with giving up Duran not Rafaela.)
  18. When you are a team looking like one really good player away from a chance at glory, it's hard to blame a GM for a gross overpay.
  19. He's pitched like a 1/2 in some categories and a 3/4 in others. To me, he's fine as a #3, which makes Bello the #4, which is also much better. I'd like a legit #2 or co-ace, but a big bat for 3B or 2B is the top priority, now.
  20. He has been a top 15-20 batter vs LHPs for 3-4 years. That's his role.
  21. soxprospects.com said that STL was considering playing Contreras at catcher some in 2027.
  22. While I agree, our 2B and 3B options are: 2B: Mayer, Romy, DHam, Sogard (Campbell) 3B: Mayer, Eaton, Romy, Sogard Mayer can only play one slot. I am 100% against playing Rafaela in the IF. Same as not wanting Duran at DH.
  23. Prospects traded away by Brez: 4. Teel (Crochet) 4. Perales (#6 Bennett) 5. Montgomery (Crochet) 6. Yorke (Priester) 6. Jh Garcia (Oviedo, Samaniego & Guzman) 7. Tibbs (D May) 8. Clarke (S Gray) 8. Fajardo (Contreras) 8. Meidroth (Crochet) 18. Wikelman (Crochet) 19. B Jordan (Matz) 20. Travieso (Oviedo plus) 25. ERod (20. Narvaez) 36. Aita (Contreras) Santos (O'Neill) Ammons (Slaten) Gasper (Moran) Riemer (Watson) Hoppe (Luke Heyman) Kavadas/Zeferjahn/Lugo (Luis Garcia) Portes (Lucas Sims) Paulino/C Coffey/Batista (DJansen) Bolivar (Paxton) ________________________ Recent graduates traded: Fitts (Gray) Dobbins (Contreras), Guerrero (T Gray) Grissom (I Jackson) Priester (Holobetz) Did I miss some?
