    Who hated the JBJ trade from day one? Stop the pretending you don't know. Think "head scratching." If that's the worst you'll say about a trade, I can see why people get frustrated at how you talk about the FO. What makes you think that was the worst I said about the trade? I criticized the hit on the budget, while Bell and others minimized it by saying the $8M option was not on the tax line. I criticized JBJ's skill level and how basing hopes on what he sis in a short period in 2020 was foolish. We all know JBJ and short sample size wonders. I said this has to be about the prospects and Bloom better know more than others, because neither looked all that promising. If you think I supported the JBJ trade, you are wrong, but like others here will never admit it.

    No, not even close. I'm asking you to name someone who supports Bloom 100%. Is that another statement that doesn't mean what it says? I support Bloom more than many here. It's no secret. Many times it is only after someone makes a bashing claim I feel needs context, but I'm not denying I defend him a lot- just not near 100%. If it's not me, who is the 100% defender? I doubt there is even a 75% defender.

    I don't blame him. There are times that is said and maybe even meant, but things change. The Sox are on the clock.

    He thinks because he did not come out and say "Bloom signed Frail," other words ,can't mean the same thing. Hire = sign when it comes to players. Bloom only hires wounded old guys is what iortiz wrote. Red responds "already has" mean Bloom and meaning "hired" or signed Paxton and Frail. It's very simple to understand the meaning without "diving deep." All Red has to say is that is not what I meant to say, but instead he insists his words don't hold the meaning they do. Then, he flips it back on those who do understand English by saying it is "silliness on a wrong notion." Watching him try to wiggle out of absurd statements is more entertaining than the original absurd statements.

    Method #2: When exposed, accuse the one who exposed you of over analyzing or "going way too deep." You answered a post about Bloom hiring "wounded old guys" by saying, "He already did" with Paxton and Frail. That only has one meaning. It doesn't take diving deep to understand what it means.

    So, name one guy. Is it the guy who hated the JBJ trade from day one? The same guy who hated the Diekman signing? The same guy who disliked the Richards, Perez I, Perez II and Marwin signings? The same guy who has been questioning why we are signing only LF/DH types and RP'ers, when our highest need areas are SP, SS and RF? He must be your 100% guy. Maybe your math is like your English, and 100% is really 50%.

    Devers is due to make about $16M in his final arb. Of course we can sign him for "less" by giving him "more" than $16M in 2023.

    Who believes everything Bloom has doone has been good? Name just one. Oh, I know: his name is Mr. Strawman. Does anyone here even think 75% of Blooms significant moves have been good? (Not me.)

    The Tigers pitching staff had the 5th worst fWAR from 2020-2021, when Schreiber was there. They put him on waivers, and he wasn't even good enough for anyone to trade for him during his waiver period.

    It seems like you need to have a strong farm, first or at the same time to make large and long deals work out. We didn't after 2019. Our farm is better, now, but maybe not quite there yet. I'm not even sure upper management even sees it this way. They may be totally done with large and longs after getting burned with almost all their last ones.

    We didn't have a strong farm, and we probab ly don't have Mayer, if we kept Betts and had a better team in 2020.

    All at the same time AND had enough to build a decent roster around them? I'm not defending JH. I wish and think he should spend more, but the reality is, he seems to set a mark and stick to it. I'm not seeing why he'd spend more on top of keeping these guys.

    So we all agree: $400M to Betts $300M to Bogey $350M to Devers Maybe the rest of the roster is filled with Webers, Andrieses, Marwins and Santana's but hey we have our beloved stars to root for as we lose 90 games, every year. Not sure it would have to be that way, but it very well could have been had JH kept the budget like he has the last 4 years.

    Are you sure that report is accurate? If it is, the FO is more F'd up than I thought.

    I don't disagree, and I want JH to offer what it takes to get Devers. I'm not sure $400M/14 is what it will take, and I'd have severe reservations about a contract like that, but my point was ab out how a major fan revolt would work out. Do you think JH would see a massive revolt in progress and it would force him to sign Devers, when he planned not to? I'm not sure, but I'd think not.
