Not you. If Dalbec might be forced to play SS, again this year, playing him one game in STing is not something to read too much into. (Not that you are, personally.)

Opening day is getting closer and closer. I’m getting pumped up.

Koss has no chance to make the 26. This isn’t about winning a STing game. It’s about seeing if Bobby Dee might be an emergency, 1 game or partial game back up at SS.

We did sign up more 2 or more year deals than 1’s, button most were 2 year or second year option deals, so our roster continuity only slightly improved.

I’m still not so sure Bogey would have taken a “reasonable deal,” and we are not really sure how much “reasonable” would have been. I’m also thinking the Sox did not want to pay him what any of us felt was that “reasonable” amount. I’m not even sure they would have given him what Story got, had Bogey said that was all he wanted.

I think MVP has spoken of Mata and the pen, often.

Very well said. Our offense looks fine. Out OF D is scary, but we look okay or plus, elsewhere. It always comes down to pitching, and with this staff it’s more about health than skill levels, to me. We have a lot of pitchers who have done well, recently, and some promising younger pitchers ready to make their moves.

The CWS are also paying McGuire’s contract- maybe for 2+ yrs, if you subtract what we owed Diekman. What did Vaz get for a contract? Wow!

True. Not many liked it. I thought it was an okay deal and looked at it like a $145M/4 deal, right from the start. For an ace, that’s a team-friendly deal, these days. The problem is we may be lucky to see $145M/3.

The other half of the comp is Vaz. How well will he age out? As far as CERA related skills are compared, it will be hard to know with more new or injury-returning pitchers, this season than pitchers who pitched a lot for our staff, last year. I’m thinking one reason they got him was to improve in that area, but who knows, if they chose correctly?

I’m not so sure Vaz and Plawecki will outhit McGuire in 2023 or beyond

If you combine the two trades for McGuire and sending Vaz to HOU, it seems to me to fall right into the plan. Vaz has two months left, we dumped Diekman and his 2nd year for 3 years of MsGuire and 2 prospects.

Unprepared, maybe, but I think DD is thrilled, this happened so quickly. When would the timing have been better? When he would be 2 years older? After the Phillie have a sucky season? (When will that be?)
