  1. Agree. I've been talking about 1B for a while. We have not done well at 1B since Bobby Dee's hot streak back in 2021.
  2. I'm still worries about Duran's defense in CF. If we could stick him in LF on a platoon, I'd feel better. With Chang doing well, we can use Kike in CF, more often, but with Arroyo digging a deeper and deeper grave for himself, we may end up with Kike back in the IF, again. Think of what this team would look like with a healthy Story, Duvall and Mondesi. I'm not sure we'd DFA Arroyo for the oft-injured Mondesi. We'd probably send Chang to AAA, but we'd have a pretty solid everyday 13, but we'd have to send Refsnyder, Duran or someone to AAA: 1. Verdugo RF 2. Devers 3B 3. Turner DH/1B 4. Duvall CF 5. Yoshida LF/DH 6. Story SS 7. Kike 2B/CF 8. Casas 1B, Duran LF/CF, Refsnyder LF/CF, Arroyo 2B, Mondesi SS/2B, Chang SS (only 4 of these 6 guys can stay) 9. McGuire/Wong C
  3. I agree on Chang being above Arroyo, and I think Changs move on the to be DFA's list was more about Kike sucking at SS than Arroyo sucking at the plate. I doubt Chang can maintain that .840 OPS over his last 26 PAs, but that .000 OPS over his first 12 PAs was the main reason he was suggested as a possible DFA guy.
  4. How did Wong get that extra 1.3 mph from Sale?
  5. Chang has really moved down the Next DFA List. I'd give Arroyo a little more time. If he was a great defender, maybe...
  6. I'm all torn up on who should catch Bello. 2022 CERA 2.87 w McGuire (67 PAs) 3.20 w Wong (118) 8.82 w Vaz (83) But... 2023 5.78 w Wong 921) 16.88 w McGuire (18)
  7. I looked at the wrong stats on Rosier. You might not have heard about him much, because he wasn't in our system, until the Hosmer-Groome trade. He and Ferguson were part of our haul.
  8. I haven't gotten caught up. We went to see Taylor Swift, last night, and got back late.
  9. It has its flaws, and it should weigh OBP more than SLG, but it works fine for me. SLG is way better than BA, alone, and since BBs are valuable- just see how many games we lose due to a leadoff BB, adding OBP makes sense.
  10. Haven't had a day off in a long time. Let's put together a streak, but as always... One game at a time!
  11. Some cherry-picked sample sizes: 1.019 Turner (last 54 PAs) .997 Verdugo (last 45 PAs) .994 Duran (28 PAs- season) .924 Kike (last 50) .899 Devers (all year 97 PAs) .874 Refsnyder (last 19) .869 McGuire (last 28) .840 Chang (last 26) .804 Yoshida (last 48) .724 Wong (last 25) .600 Casas (last 26, but .497 in first 27 PAs) .519 Arroyo (last 41, but .297 in previous 15 PAs)
  12. Before yesterday's game, the Sox opponents had a 78-40 record against all other opponents (not the Sox.) It looked like the start of the season was going to be vs easier teams, but we ran into some hot teams and have a winning record. We only have a losing record vs 2 teams.
  13. Dude, you really need to think about something else!
  14. You mean Ferguson, I assume. Yes, he's 23 and ended 2022 at A+. If he gets moved up to AA, this year, and does well, maybe we can start thinking there is some hope. Guys who can't hit but walk a lot, usually don't translate all that well. Rosier is not off to a great start in AA, but it is early. David Hamilton is really starting to show more promise than hope.
  15. They may piggyback Kluber with Paxton (not Bello/Paxton) and yanks Kluber earlier, if needed.
  16. Cora did pitch Orr in a blowout. What’s the problem? LOL
  17. How much did Yoshida’s OPS go up in just one inning?
  18. Extending Devers was a big mistake!
  19. WOO lost game one 5-4 Walter: 5IP, 6H, 2ER, 1BB, 2K Hamilton hit his 4th HR Dalbec 1-2 w BB & HBP Abreu 1-3 w BB Goodrum 1-1 w 2BB Mata getting lit up in 2nd game. POR won 6-1 Sharp has been amazing: 6IP, 3H, 1ER, 4BB, 3K (1.00 ERA) Sikes 3-4 w BB Yorke 0-2 2BB Rafaela 1-4 w 2B McDonough 1-4 w 3B Scott 1-2 w 2BB Diaz homered GRE lost 4-1 Ferguson with 1st HR SAL winning early E R-C 3 IP, 1H, 0ER, 1BB, 1K Castro, Chacon & Ravelo 2-2
  20. In theory, we can pass 'em all. I know we can pass BAL and TOR and think we will.
  21. Looks that way, although Meidroth and Hamilton may be close.
  22. Ferguson needs to improve his batting skills, but he walks a ton. Rosier and Hamilton are off to nice starts.
  23. Maybe, but with so much time missed, they should still have something left in the tank. Kluber has pitched in 13 seasons but only has 1600 IP, which is about 8 seasons at 200 IP. Paxton is 34 and has pitched in 9 seasons with just 750 IP. That's just 4 seasons at 190 IP. Porcello had 1200 IP by age 26 and almost 1700 at age 28.
  24. Yes, McGuire got Sale all ready for that good start with Wong.
  25. I'm not sure McGuire is who I hope(d) he is or will be. I'd be thrilled, if Wong wins the job, because he is doing better and continues getting good results from the pitchers he catches. It is likely we settle into a specific catcher-pitcher set up. Already, McGuire has not caught Whitlock or Houck, and Wong has not caught Bello. My guess is, Sale, Kluber and Pivetta will settle into a one catcher routine, at some point. Just so you know, I'd be defending Wong, if anyone was harping on him, too.
