  1. What was funny was you calling him "my guy," and no you were not joking.
  2. I answered. I don't care. I don't make most of them to try and predict a trade, and many I would not make as the Sox GM. I do it to see what the approximate value it might take to give to get a person of my interest or someone else's. Why should I care, under those circumstances. If I had to guess, since the site has not been around all that long, maybe 0 to 1. I know I got a few right before BTV. I only do Sox trade suggestions, and since we've made close to zero trades, my guess is zero. I did get the signing of Cody Ross right. Does that count?
  3. If we guessed on the prospects DD acquired from Ben (and Theo,) we'd have been wrong on almost everyone, except Devers and maybe Casas. If I had to guess, now... Out of Mayer, Anthony, Teel and Bleis: 1-2 might be stars and 3-4 might be FT players. A chance 3 are stars. Out of Rafaela, Yorke, Perales, Wikelman. Abreu, Murphy, Valdez and Gambrell: 1 might become a star, maybe 0, and maybe 1-3 become everyday players. I like this group: Cespedes, Zanetello, Joh Garcia, Monegro, Anderson and maybe Romero to produce 1-2 stars and 2-3 everyday players. I'm an admitted homer.
  4. Exactly. How many "just everyday players" did we get from our farm after Devers (summer of '17) and before Casas/Bello (recently?) Houck? Dalbec for a short time. Crawford (starting in '22) Am I missing anyone?
  5. Good point. If we add nobody to the OF, would you guess more innings in CF for Duran, and maybe more LF innings for Yoshida or Abreu? I hope we add Duvall, with or without Dugo.
  6. Complaining about others doing this is quite the boat to float, too.
  7. The "next guys" don't look at that. Like Red, they only see wins and losses with no context. That's why they get jobs like GMs. and we don't.
  8. Start a poll and see for yourself.
  9. You forgot to mention you wanted casas benched right before he got hot, then a month later called him "my guy, Casas."
  10. You win the Pat on the Back Award. Congrats. The vote wasn't that hard.
  11. What do you see as the major flaw(s)?
  12. I don't really care. Do you? Most of the time, it's just to show what it might take to get someone I want or who others have expressed interest in. It's not meant to be something I think should, can or could happen. Many trades I suggest on BTV, I put a thumbs down on the Sox side of the trade. Since the Sox team has made no major trades in 5 years, it's hard to get one right (or wrong).
  13. 2 excellent pitchers and Duvall and call it a day. (I'd prefer 3, but this is the "realistic" thread. Maybe trade Dugo for a good LH RP'er or SP depth.
  14. Being right comes so easy for you.
  15. Change the subject is your MO.
  16. You think being biased and right has to be mutually exclusive of each other?
  17. Burnes and Adames have one year remaining. I'm thinking BOS might say no, even with $16M given.
  18. Hand raised, as long as the 2 pitchers are solid #1/2 types and don't get hurt or suck. We won't have the same crappy D behind the staff, again, next year, even if no additions are made to strengthen it. SS is the most important defensive position in MLB, along with catching. We should go from worst to top 5 with a healthy Story. No addition needed. (Reyes & Rafaela are back-ups: no more Kike.) LF should greatly improve as Yoshida moves to DH near FT. Duran may not be good in CF, but he should be fine in LF. No addition needed. (Abreu may get some time in LF.) CF should improve the more Rafaela plays, but his innings amount is unknown, as of now. (Abreu is better than Duran in CF.) 2B should improve with just Reyes and urias playing nearly all the innings, there. If EValdez plays, a lot- nevermind. (Our 2B D sucked in 2023.) RF, 3B, 1B and C should stay about the same. (One could argue catchers take longer to mature, and Wong/McGuire should improve, but let's just say "the saame.") No position should get worse. Major changes could be made. One could be to trade Yoshida and cash for ____, move Devers to 1B, Casas to DH, add a great defensive SS or 2B and play Story at the other slot, and we could got from worst to top 5 with just 2 outside additions and some rotations.
  19. I think the moving Devers to 1B is a better hill to climb, notin. Story is an excellent defensive SS, and we have Mayer in the wings. If Story blows out his arm, you can blast us all away, but hopefully he can play SS, until Mayer is ready. Unless we trade Mayer, Adames is a pipedream. BTW, BTV accepted: Mayer for Burnes, Adames & $8M
  20. No. That one just showed your bias. I was talking about your Marlins-Red Sox comp, and you know it.
  21. JH said yes to a QO to Nate. I assume he said yes to the initial offer to Nate, last winter, which was reportedly worth more than he got with Texas. I think Bloom was the one who decided to pull the Nate offer and spend the money elsewhere.
  22. There has been a lot of movement in the Marlins FO, too.
  23. I thought he was joking.
  24. He did not mean it wasn't a wish but a "daydream." He's just pointing out the new GM or CBO may have a different idea on where Story plays. He's not saying it will happen; it will likely happen; or he wants it to happen. I don't think anyone wants Story at 2B, since we have no other capable SS, right now. Maybe the next GM gets one, and enacts a change. Probably not, but possible.
