    I totally agree, and blaming Bloom or calling that trade his lasting legacy shows a shortsightedness very common in these debates. The "He could have gotten a better return" argument makes more sense as a topic for debate, but even that rings hollow, when you factor in the half Price addition to the deal, and how few teams would even answer a call on a trade with that much cost.

    How is it "ridiculous" to add that context to the task Bloom was given? You may disagree with the impact the budget, farm and declining/injured returning vets had on Bloom's tenure, but certainly all three areas were significant enough to not call bringing them up "ridiculous." Again, I come back to the idea that it seems like how people judge the Bloom era has much to do with how they viewed the situation he was handed. Many refused to believe a reckoning was coming, back in 2019, and they seem to be mostly be the ones who think that Bloom is largely to blame for 3-4 years of poor to mediocre play, since DD left. This all began in 2019, including the budget restrictions and no trading prospects trend. The no farm infusion trend began right after Devers was called up in the summer of 2017, and that trend takes years to kick in and see the results it has on a team's ability to win consistently. Again, unlike notin, I applaud DD's efforts and think this sacrifice was worth every bit of those 3 glorious years from 2016-2018.

    He's keeping all those "what if" arguments on the front burner. Our pen games have really taken a toll on our staff and our record.

    Indeed. Winning 3 out of 4 vs the Royals is the minimum acceptable record. Maybe Turner returns, today and can provide the spark he has often done, over his career.

    Best Records v Winning Teams: 40-25 ATL 44-34 BAL 34-27 SFG 33-28 TEX 38-33 BOS 40-35 TBR 31-30 LAD 36-35 PHI (All others have losing records) The Sox are 20-22 v losing teams- 5th worst in MLB. Weird season.

    MLB names the Sox prospect that jumped the most- midseason: Red Sox: Yoeilin Cespedes, SS Cespedes received the largest bonus ($1.4 million) in Boston's 2023 international class because he was considered one of the more advanced hitters on the market, and he has lived up to that reputation in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League. Cespedes is batting .359/.409/.594 with six homers in 41 games and also earning praise for his baseball IQ and work ethic.

    On another note: Am I wrong in saying our last top 6 prospect on SP's that was traded was Jalen Beeks for Nate on 7/25/18? It's been over 5 years. My research may be wrong, but I think the highest ranked prospect traded, since then, was #9 Aldo Ramirez for Schwarber at the '21 deadline. I don't have the answer, but what ranking was the second highest ranked prospect traded, since Beeks?

Massive budget slash directive Declining vet production, even those in their primes Pretty much no farm help, except Houck from Devers (summer of '17 to spring of '23) to Bello, Casas, Duran & Co. We all seem to be unhappy about the MLB results, but some chose to blame, some seek to explain while some look for silver linings. If the players showed the fight some fans have, maybe the results would be better.
