  1. We'd still need to make room on the 40, but that is not difficult with Ort still on it. I'd IL Arroyo, then trade Kike.
  2. People who say our farm sucks or is overrated, may not be experts on other farm systems.
  3. I would not consider trading Kike a sell. I'm not sure Duvall would ne, either, as we have Refsnyder as a RH'd OF bat. (I doubt we trade both, unless we are selling Paxton, too.) I don't see us selling Paxton and "buying" another SP'er as some have suggested we might do.
  4. The RH'd pen arm should be Houck and or Whitlock, as we trade for a solid SP'er or two. BTW, Wink is turning things back around, so we do have 2 nice RH'd pen guys. I agree, we still need another. Also, some lefties are doing a good to great job getting righties out: OPSA .446 Murphy .662 Walter .681 Bleier .686 Jacquez .700 Bernardino
  5. True. It just felt like we had no chance.
  6. Just google fangraphs, select Red Sox in team window. Change PA or IP from qualified to a lower number and see the fWAR numbers in the far right column.
  7. I doubt this will happen, but I hope we trade for 2 SPers, and any returning pitcher goes to the pen. Maybe Sale would demote Crawford to the pen. We may not even trade for one starter. If we do, I hope it is Stroman, Giolito, Montgomery or Snell. Let’s dream of two. This would be our 13 man healthy staff: SP Bello Paxton Stroman Giolito Sale Long RP Crawford Pivetta Whitlock Houck Short RP Jansen Martin Schreiber Winckowski That’s pretty damn solid! It might be the best pen we’ve ever had, despite not having our best closer ever. This rotation and depth would be close to the best ever. I guess what I’m getting at is that I’m thinking we might be 2 solid SPers away from significant contention for an actual ring! Call me a Homer, but I’m starting to fall for this team.
  8. Yes. We may be yo-yoing a few players, if we are still in it. On another note, we are still on pace for 86 wins. We need to win 2 of the next 3 to be on pace for 87 wins.
  9. We’ve won 5 out our last 6 series. A split with ATL would be decent. That road trip at SFG & SEA could be a real ball-buster, but I’m hopeful we can go 4-2 or 3-3, at worst. Is that enough to keep us from selling? A
  10. Indeed. Most of our recent losses have been close ones, except that one in Oak.
  11. …and you can call up and send down all Sept., right?
  12. SP's: Arm: Below-average arm strength. Passable in the outfield, but throws lack carry. https://www.soxprospects.com/players/duran-jarren.htm fangraphs has his ARM as a plus for 2023 but negative over his career. From what I've seen, it's not better than average for CF, and seems like it would not be plus in RF.
  13. The Sox backed off, right, because they thought the return was not enough?
  14. Sorry. I can't read your posts anymore. I will no longer read or respond to them. It's too confusing to know who wrote what. Nothing against you or your opinions, but I'm half blind and just can't do it anymore.
  15. He has his OPS v LHPs up to .723, so it has been much higher than that, of late. One problem is, Refsnyder has been a top MLB batter vs LHPs since the start of 2022. Yes, TOP 10! Duvall hits LHPs very well and has been hot over the last 7-8 games. Yoshida is not being benched, but can DH, if you bench Casas or Turner. (I would not do that.) To me, it comes down to Duran or Dugo vs LHPs. Maybe Dugo needs some rest, but I'm not ready to make him the platoon guy, either.
  16. He won't be ML ready until late 2024 or 2025. By then, our whole roster may be different. Mayer might be traded. Story might still be getting hurt.
  17. I think the big knock was the sheer number of prospects he traded away. I once counted about 20 prospects traded that were, at one time or another. IMO, the hindsight view shows he did well keeping Devers, Bello, Casas, Duran and others, whether he got luck or otherwise, and many of the more highly rated prospects traded, mostly underperformed expectation. The Sale trade was great: the extension was not. The Kimbrell trade looked like a gross overpay to me, but the cost of top closers skyrocketed shortly after the trade, and the players we gave up did not do all that well. The Pom trade looked s***** to me, but Espinoza never did squat. The Thornburg and C Smith deals sucked, but what we gave up wasn't a killer. If Bloom makes just one- not 4-5 trades- and brings us the next Sale, I'd be happy, even if we lost a couple top prospects. (I'm not a DD basher.)
  18. I can't read your posts. You need to stop twisting where you post your reply. The answer to getting more good pitching in the system should not mean drafting players with lower chances of succeeding, just because they are pitchers. I'm not a huge Yorke fan, but I think that draft was between decent to good.
  19. The no hitter is the talk on the farm. Wikelman dropped his ERA to 0.75. His BB issue is still alive. He walks about one very 2 innings, but he's got nasty stuff. Kavadas 2 BBs GRE won 4-3 Castro, Bonaci and Ferguson all had 2 hits SAL won 6-4 Asigen 3-4 (.874, now) Jh Garcia 1-5 w 3 rbi Ravelo 2-4
  20. The Braves, Astros and maybe the Rays have kept a flow of good young players pretty constant, while winning. The O'd were helped by losing for so long.
  21. Every key team won, except TBR, who lost to the O's.
  22. The FA hit rate is scary- agreed, but so is drafting one.
  23. I agree. Try to find and develop a few pitchers on your own, but waiting to add proven pitchers improves the odds. Draft and develop everyday players and use some to trade for pitching, if free agency is not an option (resetting year?) or is not working (Richards, Kluber...).
  24. Someone else said that, but they obviously liked Yorke, a lot. He was a good pick. It was a good draft. I still do not know why you choose this specific draft to complain about. There is so many more worthy things to complain about, IMO.
  25. His arm is not good enough for RF, especially in Fenway. To me, he is best in CF or LF.
