final week of season. emotional toll.

did you watch any of the games the last week of the season?

the first and second week of september wasnt nearly as emotional. if you guys didnt see the difference the last week of the season for yourselves nothing i will type here will change your mind. the media coverage, the commercials, the instagram/social media postings, the ceremonies, the patches on the jerseys, the interviews, the hour long specials.

you need to add #7. 7. David Ortiz Retirement Tour. this "celebration" took it's greatest emotional and physical toll the final week of the season. the Focus of the players and FO was not on the team and winning a World Series. instead the Focus of the players, FO, and fanbase was on one man. this would be my #1 reason why the Red Sox limped into the Postseason and were swept out.....

i chalk it up to the David Ortiz Retirement Tour. it took over the last week of the season and distracted from what the focus should have been - winning a WS.

trying to sign him at reliever money to minimize risk. as moon stated, very doubtful he would take it anyway but if i were DD i would lay that on the table. -
53-28 (25 games OVER) 41-39 (2 games over) hmmmmmm. does that seem like a HFA to you?????????? porc home: 2.97 porc road: 3.31 its putting your head in the sand if you think HFA didnt matter in this series.

Does anyone want to list what cleveland home vs road record this season was? Sometimes "hfa" actually benefits the "other" team more than it "hurts" your team. Someone also please list what porcello era home vs road this season?

4 year / $36MM contract right now. take it or leave it. -
i dont want them to spend a dime on a dh. let them spend it on middle relief arms then. or use that $25MM per to sign an early deal with the B's. ideally we trade for a proven 1/2 thats under team control. secondarily we trade for a proven 1/2 thats under a $$$ contract. i would rather have that 25MM sitting there for them than for EE (or any other DH not named David Ortiz). oh and guess what? the most we ever spent for per season for the greatest DH of all time - $16MM. pass on big $$$ DH. use it for arms. pitching = parades Slasher's stance: EE can suck it. feel free to think otherwise....

i would rather use that $100MM to get a top level pitcher. yes, i understand we willl have to trade for one but there will still be a price tag. pitching = parades i wouldnt spend a dime on a DH.....

DD knows not to hold JF responsible for the debacle known as the "retirement tour"..... Dude deserves an extension for even making it to the postseason with that distraction surrounding all his players......

yes. 100%. "retirement tours" are a team distraction. for the entire team. and if you dont think that you have to be 110% focused on baseball and baseball only to succeed when it matters most then of course you dont agree.

i 100% believe the David Price contract will be an albatross the next 6 seasons. Eff Price. he is exactly who i thought he was.
