    yeah. that and DD always blows up the farm. some of us have been saying this from day 1 of DD's hiring. it was only a matter of time before he gutted ours. like i said earlier...at least this time we actually got an Ace for our prospects.

    why do you think we want to give Clay away? it's a contract year. he will be our #2 starter by the end of the year.

    i do not agree with the WS home team being based on season W-L. this is only fair if there is a balanced schedule. the big balls move would be...a ONE GAME World Series (although we would have to change the word "series") - winner takes all. Hold it at a "neutral" site every year. schedule the game on a Saturday evening at a minimum 4 days after the championship series ends. this way all pitchers are available for both teams. this would take a run at the Super Bowl type ratings and turn the World Series into an "event".

    hahaha. another contract that will be an albatross in less than 2 seasons. and this season the NYY are a .500 team at best. alot of $$$ for a closer for a .500 team. Ca$$$hman making The Boss proud.

    another reason this trade is awesome....our $31MM per year x 6 more years "Ace" can now be pushed down to #3.

    BTW - when DD was brought in and we said "say goodbye to the Farm"....now you know. and knowing is half the battle. at least this trade makes 100% sense.

    so, uh yeah. when some of us were bitching about the Espi trade. this is the kind of trade that we wanted to do with prospects. when some of us were saying we can get a TOTR starter for JUST PROSPECTS. this IS WHAT WE MEANT. thanks for finally figuring it out DD.

    now come on moon. i never said it was "more important". the decision that Branch made had massive implications, but as a GM to want a player of Jackie's ability playing for your team is not a terribly hard decision.

    you dont get my rating as "greatest GM of all time" by taking a small market team to the World Series. You get slasher's rank as GOAT by breaking 194 years of big market team misery whilst also building the team/franchise up to be perennial favorites to win the WS. i do imagine the Cubs will have pretty good odds to make a run at it the next few years. and as we all know the Sox didn't take another 86 years to have another parade.....
