  1. so are you arguing for different levels of clutch? stepping up to the plate in the postseason with the bases juiced and coming through with a knock is a clutch hit. i dont care if it's inning 1 or inning 17. it's a clutch hit. those other hits you mentioned were clutch as well. just because someone rates the granny as the first thought that comes to mind when presented "JD Drew Clutch Hit" doesnt invalidate the others. it just means that he had multiple clutch hits for the Boston Red Sox and the one that comes to mind first is the Grand Slam. i was actually at that game btw. and it felt clutch live and in person.
  2. hey Kimmi. I am wondering if you believe in momentum?
  3. this. 100 percent.
  4. Great thread lefty. some good posts. my take: there is 100% such a thing as being "clutch". we know who they are. one of the best ever will have a plaque in cooperstown in 5 years. there is 100% such a thing as wilting under the pressure. we know who they are. one of the biggest ever will be collecting $31MM from the sox for the next 6 years. I blame JF for wilters!!!!
  5. Ortiz > Jesus Christ > Ted Williams > the XX.
  6. IN. this is gonna be a FUN season. all aboard....
  7. enjoy the game! i was at the last SB in Houston to watch the Pats win their 2nd trophy. was amazing.
  8. i like our 2017 team. a lot. i would love it if Papi was still on it. this is going to be a fun season.
  9. RIP both. a gentle reminder for us all to buckle up.
  10. in ~ 1 hour we will need to replace the following players on the 40 man roster as i expect them to be rounded up and sent home as promised on the election trail for the past 12 months by our new president: Luis Ysla E-Rod Roenis Elias Fernando Abad Xander Bogaerts Marco Hernandez Pablo Sandoval Han Ram Sandy Leon C. Vazquez J. Lake looks like Swihart will be our opening day catcher.....
  11. you can dismiss the part i said about how managers manage the pitching staff in the postseason. you can also dismiss that i said "supposed to". the fact remains...pitching in the postseason usually trumps pitching in the regular season. hitting in the postseason is usually harder than hitting in the regular season. i used the word "usually" in both sentences so please refrain from pointing out David Ortiz' 2013 World Series batting average......
  12. i would agree except that i said it before the postseason even started. but whatever. you and notin are thrilled we have David Price for postseason starts. again, i am not saying you are wrong for your opinion but you two cannot resist telling me how wrong i am for thinking differently.
  13. congrats to ivan, bags, and raines for getting in. trevor hoffman 6 votes short. thats got to hurt. Vlad also short of the mark. some interesting observations: Schilling lost momentum big time: 230 --> 199 Clemens chances improving: 199 --> 239 Same with Bonds: 195 --> 238 edgar: 191 --> 259 Manny received 105 votes. i believe this was his first year of eligibility. shoutout to Varitek (2 votes) and Wakey-wakey (1 vote).
  14. i dont expect every starting pitcher to be CS or MB. i also dont expect a pitcher on a $31MM x 7 Ace contract to pitch like a $13.5MM option. theres a reason those 1 year meh $10-15MM per guys are a dime a dozen.
  15. i'm willing to give big D Rick another shot at starting a postseason game. his postseason era is only up 35% compared to his regular season numbers so i dont picture him in the clubhouse like a scared little bunny rabbit before a playoff start....now when that number balloons up to 72% over 7 years of sample size then i will worry.
  16. hitting usually suffers in the postseason. because you are supposed to be facing Aces. and managers manage the management of managing the BP better. ie you cannot feast on subpar middle relief pitching in the postseason.
  17. for me it was. he proved me right once again. go figure.
  18. the clearcut decision is to not have David Price start a postseason game. he wilts. i posted he should be relegated to the Pen prior to 2016 postseason.....
  19. AWESOME post Emp. this just got me very hype for the 2017 season. love it. count me IN.
  20. fair enough. like i have said all along...i pray he proves me wrong. i love having a guy on my team that i can count on a W every 5th day. i would be thrilled if Price becomes that guy. we all saw his mechanics vary big time throughout the season last year. hopefully he settled on something this offseason that he has success with.
  21. i have an idea. when you sign one of the alltime biggest FA contracts for a starting pitcher dont come out and suck for the first 2 or 3 months of your 7 year contract. i know, i know. that is really asking a lot. let me save you the time for all the excuses. he needs to acclimate. he needs to get used to the ballpark. BABIP! throwback uniforms too much media! so many rabid fans! JFC this feels like postseason atmosphere and it's only April! wilt.
  22. you guys make it sound like players turn down $$$$ to stay away from Boston. that's a joke, right? you are being funny? players will go to whomever pays the most $$$$. name 1 player that turned down a Boston contract to play elsewhere for less money? and i thought i made wacky ascertions.....
  23. was there a vote? oh wait...being king is a bloodline thing. nevermind. now do my bidding peasant.
