  1. Right. But, Clutch Command is nothing without Clutch Control...
  2. feels like he's just winging it out there. For better or worse. Seems loose and not afraid, so that's good at least.
  3. Post of year so far my book maybe?
  4. He has a Latissimus dorsi (back to arm) injury. Don't think it's serious.
  5. Hmm, upon further thought... just about the word 'Command'. Command of the strike zone vs Command of a pitch. I think that's where things get a bit confusing.
  6. Well, he'd have Command of the pitch itself, but he'd be lacking Control (controlling it for a strike or at least the strike zone). But to each his own. I'd rather just say said pitcher lacks authority, in one way or another. There will always be a little subjectivity.
  7. I've had these discussions/sometimes arguments over the whole Control/Command topic. I find "Lack of Authority over his pitches", or "Possessed Authority over his pitches", (for whatever reason), is a nice substitute... because it's not wrong and everyone gets what you're saying.
  8. “The pitchers ‘command’ means that his pitches are doing what he wants them to do. If his intent is to throw a curve ball, then the ball will curve. The pitcher has ‘control’ when the pitches he throws are staying in the strike zone like he wants. If he wants to throw a ball, then he is throwing balls.” Command means “your curveball can curve, your breaking ball can break, your slider will slide, and your fastball is fast…. however if you can’t get it over the plate (or reasonably within range), you have no ‘control’.”
  9. Extended time? I'd say Young.
  10. Hey Ohh!!!! Got a win! I tried watching @ the gym, but wi-fi was spotty. Audio worked, but turned to music for a set. Nice news when I got home. Henandez 3-4 RBI, and a Run. Leon and Young coming up huge. At least Young and Hernandez are getting more playing time than they otherwise would with the flu goin around and the bereavements. Another early game Monday and we got Sale going... so there's a great chance we split. A split wouldn't be bad considering.
  11. Kelly got a swing and miss on a 99MPH fastball and it'd been a strike either way (over the plate). He just never went back to it and instead threw outside breaking balls. Maybe he lost command on his FB, but that's hard to know when he never attempted to throw another one. It's a little too early in the season to make any definitive assessment on how future appearances will go for him. I just didn't like what I saw from him GM #3 because he didn't challenge hitters, hitters that shouldn't have put the fear of god in him that's for sure. Maybe the flu caught up to him? IDK? Another issue for me is that when the hell do our relievers trust in the defense behind them like our SPers have. They seem to be pitching like it's all on them and it's not. Are they paying attention to JBJ at all?
  12. This series deserves an asterisk.
  13. This is like yesterdays game with our BP. I really think our relievers are giving WAAAAY Too Much credit to Detroit's 6th, 7th , and 8th batters in their lineup. We're just not challenging them. I don't know why we're pussyfooting around the strike zone vs the weakest part of their lineup.
  14. But our best defense could be coughing on the opposing players
  15. wow that flu ripped apart our whole godamn team
  16. Good game. Turned into a better game than I originally thought it'd be. Some nice fight in them.
  17. He located it fine 99MPH two pitches before so..
  18. umps calling that outside pitch now?
  19. Kelly needs to go right after hitters with heat, not f*** around and walk them
  20. Umps call those strikes all the time though. I think I would've left Hembree in anyway. He was pitching well vs very good batters... ah well.
  21. Hembree was getting squeezed this whole inning
  22. Panda just took out the tigers ... and my put a hurtin' on my Fantasy team. Awesome!
