  1. He's been in our system for... forever, but he's still only 24. 6' 7" LHP with control and command issues. Even if he doesn't develop a 3rd pitch to be a SP, I suppose if he focuses on just his FB & Curveball (along w/ solving his control & command of course) he might develop into a fine RP. His age and his frame are reasons I haven't quite given up on him.
  2. Wait, what? We can quarantine his salary?
  3. I doubt Travis is THAT much of a defensive upgrade at 1B than Hanley, if any. But yeah, I'm excited to see Travis' progress this year and if Moreland struggles mightily at the plate, to see Travis called up.
  4. ..and I never bet against Dr. House. s***, this is bad.
  5. Your so-called point doesn't make sense. A whole career isn't a f***ing sample size. It's not a slice of pie, it's the whole f***ing pie. Really, I have to explain to you what a sample is?
  6. If Beni comes close to what I think he'll be, losing XB to FA or trading him beforehand and acquiring a defensive centered SS might not be the end of the world. Additionally, and ideally, I'd like to see Devers graduated and contributing before any decision on XB is made. I've always seen XB as the player ( out of XB, Betts, & JBJ ) most likely to go anyways. Both XB and JBJ have a lot to prove to me as far as consistency goes (Betts not so much) and again whether XB will develop more power is still a ongoing question mark. For me, extending Betts is the priority in the near future ( I've thought this even before his MVP-2 season last year ). As far as what players SAY they're comfortable with, regarding both XB's and Betts' comments on contract extensions and being content with going year to year, it's a whole 'nother ballgame when digits and dollar signs are passed across the table. We won't know how they really feel until that day comes.
  7. Maybe, maybe not. But healthier is a nice first step. EE has had 1,000 more PA as DH so... It'll be interesting to see.
  8. My post had nothing to do with SOMEONE ELSE's post-arbitrarily, cherry-picked, sample size. Hanley is the better hitter over the course of both their careers. Plain and simple. I'm not the one who brought up sample sizes other than their whole careers. It's not my burden to fit what I said, which was factual, into someone else's arbitrary window of importance after the fact. LOL
  9. EE has 425 games at DH ( he's hit 101 HR there) , HanRam has 36 career games at DH ( 10 HR ). I'm actually very curious to see what HanRam does with more time DHing, power-wise.
  10. Wouldn't ya' know I mention 7 other categories other than hits and my first post on the topic I highlighted the word HEALTHY in bold. And the last time a checked a 12 year sample size is larger than a 6 year sample size. Did you have a point besides the s*** I already covered?
  11. Why are your sample sizes getting smaller and smaller? first 6 now 5... I'm talking 12years. I'm talking their careers. EE has batted .280 twice in a dozen years, HanRam eight (.300 or more 5 times). HanRam has more career hits than EE, over 200 more hits with only 100 or so more PA. HanRam has got EE beat on 2B, 3B, SB (by a lot), Runs (by a lot), OPS, OBP, Hits, 29 point edge on BA ( over a 12 year period, a 29 point margin is substantial to me ). For me, HamRam edges EE out as a better hitter and an overall better ballplayer and I'd take HanRam over EE all day every day and twice on Wednesday since today is Wednesday. EE is a better power hitter, I'll give you that.
  12. XB hits aren't my deciding factor. Hits are, however.
  13. I think I'd still take HanRam over EE. A healthy HanRam that is, 'cause I just think he's a better overall hitter than EE (although I like EE a lot). I agree Scherzer made more sense. I would've went hardcore after Scherzer that off-season.
  14. Tune-in next week folks, when Red Sox get fined and barred from Free Agent signings for 2 years over Jorge Hernandez...
  15. Cardinals finally get fined for hack on Astros: http://mashable.com/2017/01/30/houston-astros-st-louis-cardinals-hack/?utm_cid=mash-com-Tw-ent-link%23_Rz8wdpd7rqI#ozZSCQJA5SqJ
  16. That and KC's BP re-redefined how you could put together a winner. So much so, that it influenced many teams to try and do the same. Probably part of the reason why Kimbrel costs soo much.
  17. They don't have the Guinness & Sam Adams kiosks any more?
  18. now that I think about it, would theses guys take MiLB deals? Not even sure they could. Or could they have taken major league deals and started off in AAA?
  19. The deals for Tyson Ross (Rangers) and Brett Anderson (Cubs) look decent ( 1Yr/$6M, 1Yr/3-$4M respectively, Incentive-laden).
  20. Well as they say you can't keep all your... Ahem... I mean you can't trade all your prospects. ehh.. nevermind.
  21. So stem cell injections must be legal in MLB? I didn't know and got too busy to look that up. That stem cell s*** is amazing. Thanks Obama.
  22. I think it's reasonable to suspect that BC wouldn't have made the Kimbrel or the Pom trade. I think having BC stick on as GM (No DD), we'd most likely have at least 2 more top 100 prospects in our system left over no matter what the circumstances would have been. The Pom trade definitely doesn't happen in this scenario, so Espinoza ( unless a part in the Sale trade of course ) would still be here. I also don't think he'd have traded Margot plus 3 others for Kimbrel, but we'd probably be looking for a Closer right now as we speak. Or if these trades did happen under BC or something equally similar, he'd have made sure we gotten back more than just Kimbrel or more than just Pomeranz. Probably more than just Sale too, the more I think about it. I do think BC was going to have to make a big trade eventually and it would've been for a TOTR SP (not Pomeranz, think Sale).
  23. Well, he seems to fit a certain narrative. He tells us things we already know ( 3 yr window. I think most of us knew that before he did), mixed with things I personally don't agree with. Example: "So if the Kimbrel deal was a planet too far for Cherington, the Sale trade is in another galaxy entirely." I doubt this statement very much. Look, we already know, and have known for some time now, that we were not going to be able to extend every homegrown player we brought up. We weren't going to keep every prospect we had, even under Cherington that wouldn't have happened. The White Sox called the Red Sox on Sale btw, not the other way around. And just speaking for myself, I'm still pleased as punch we had so many graduates stick as we have had to date. And what's Mookie supposed to say, really? He's not even Arb Eligible yet. He might as well of asked Benintendi about an extension.
  24. Hugh, you got info on Austin Rei (that speaks beyond his sox prospect bio)?
  25. His career 46.1 GB% is worth taking a closer look at him. Maybe Bannister can help him play to his strengths? Needless to say it's a long shot he does anything. If Coors field was his last stop I'd be more hopeful, but it wasn't.
