  1. I think it's way too early to think we need a power bat. Hanley had 2 HRs around this time last season if I remember correctly.
  2. I was talking about the Red Sox, not other teams. I said soggy not "ground is soggy" per se, so stop adding words to what I said. I've always known the Sox to take a cautious approach to base stealing in the early weeks. They say it or allude to it every year around this time. 1) They want to avoid injury 2) They care more about SB efficiency. They're looking for quality opportunities, not quantity exactly. Don't half of the teams you mentioned have retractable roofs, no? And is it a coincidence Arizona has the most SB attempts in MLB right now?
  3. Didn't think I'd take so much flack for what Farrell himself said.
  4. I agree but we're speedy team. It's simply been too soggy in New England to steal bases. It really IS still Spring. Pedroia didn't play 3 nights ago because of the rain coming off an injury. If it wasn't raining he'd been out there for example.. I just glad we're not in THAT big of a slump like Toronto record wise. Are heads are above water, and there's been a lot of it.
  5. How much power do you think he'll show this season? I think he's good for 15 HRs total (vs LHP & RHP combined). Is it worth waiting for this year when the other aspects of his game may play a more important role? IDK, it's definitely something to keep in mind but...
  6. At least vs RHPs, right? He's already proven enough with his bat he can handle MLB pitching and he's faster than Betts. If we see zero gains, it's still the right move.
  7. I don't think Pedroia should be looked at as the Main Stay Lead-off hitter on the team. Especially when we have a player like Benitendi who looks to be the prototypical lead-off man that any team in their right mind would want leading-off.
  8. For one, we have Beni now. We face a lot of RH SPers, why not leadoff with a LHB? Makes more sense to me. Yes, Pedroia did better than I expected him to last year at leadoff, doesn't mean he belongs there. It doesn't mean he's not better somewhere else down the lineup (where he actually does have better numbers). Pedroia didn't start the season as leadoff, that was mid-august when he had 4 1/2 months of baseball behind him.
  9. yeah I'm completely vexed as to why he's leading off anyhow.
  10. What's more frustrating to watch? A team that can't hit or a team that can't pitch?
  11. That is very telling. To me It's not hitting, it's hitting at the same time. It's stinging together hits in the same inning. Hitting with runners on and of course with RISP. It's getting an extra base hit. It's NOT hitting into a double play. It's hitting way less pop ups that's for sure. This offense is failing at small ball and power at the same time. I also think the weather has played a part. Not just the 40 degree weather when the game isn't half over yet, but I'd like to think they'd be more aggressive on the basepaths if it wasn't so wet either.
  12. Over 162 gmes... we'll just call it gravity
  13. Forget rank. Where they rank is just meaningless right now. They have to score enough runs in relation to how many runs they give up to win games. The Orioles can hit but they do not have "excellent" pitching.
  14. I'd say absolutely not. It's an early season slump and everyone is slumping at the same time. I'm not too worried about it. Far too many good to great hitters on this team for it to last much longer. Not having Papi anymore may be playing on their minds a bit, but that's not the overall reason. It's early in the season and everything is magnified like usual. Certain guys need to step up: Pedey, Hanley, Betts, and Bogey. I see alot of pop-ups, HIDPs, and weak contact and some of that is just plain bad luck that will turn around.
  15. it's good you mixed the game with something exciting
  16. I don't know how we lose on a night like that
  17. Mookie needs to lead-off and JBJ needs to bat 9th or somethin'.... shake things up
  18. sooo many pop ups lately
  19. They just need to take it one game at a time. Maybe one inning at a time even. Feel like they're playing the Yanks thinking about playing the Cubs, playing the O's and but thinking about playing the Yanks, etc...
  20. Is there some unwriten code we can't leadoff witha lefty?
  21. I know Beni cld prolly bat higher
  22. oh great, here's Kimmi about to tell us Barnes' pitch was somehow random...
