  1. Victor Martinez, Mauer, Bautista also zero HRs
  2. Mookie. Unstoppableness.
  3. I like that. I'm of the opinion that, by simply not making an Out (on offense, of course) is more valuable than anything else. The exception to this would be a Run producing Sacrifice Fly ( or bunt.. or a base-running sacrifice .or really any type of sacrifice that scores a run).
  4. Basic concepts of American values. Oh boy....Did Starbucks come out with an "controversal" Easter to-go cup and I've somehow missed it?
  5. Why? He's got more than enough protection.
  6. WAR is okay. It's Projected WAR I have an issue with.
  7. I've no major problems with Panda, I just hate his contract ('18: $18.6M, '19: $18.6M, '20: $17M or $5M Buyout). If he has a good season I hope they shop him hardcore over the winter. I don't care if Devers is ready by then or not (and I'm guessing not). Humor me: If Panda does have a good to great year and there turns out to be a small market for him over the winter, what could we expect salarydump-wise? There's no way a team would pay all of it. Is there a chance we could get off paying half ($18.6M) plus the buyout?
  8. Well, your theory might not necessarily be b.s., you just won't get funding is all.
  9. There's nothing to complain about. We won our first 'Spot Start' of the season and our closer wasn't even available either so....
  10. My rank: Offense: #1 Betts, #2 Beni, #3 Bradley Defense: #1 Bradley, #2 Betts, #3 Beni
  11. For all of Panda's free swinging, vlad the impaler type s*** at the plate, he fouls off a lot of pitches and does have some nice ABs. Some of those nice ABs don't amount to much other than wearing down the pitcher (which has value). Last night he showed some patience at the plate and went 3 for 4 w/ a walk. As long as he mixes in some more patient ABs to go along with his more aggressive ones he should be fine. I like his bat speed thus far, especially after missing a whole season.
  12. Yeah it did. No Kimbrel tonight too
  13. Hembree keeps earning my respect more and more.
  14. I kinda wish Dalbec was a SS not a 3B. I'd feel better
  15. Yeah, that would undoubtedly make things even more difficult. Other options would be to trade HR and/or Panda or some combination.
  16. Maybe. But I'm starting to value JBJ more than XB, at least lately (this could change). On the other hand the OF may be easier to fill than SS. I think any hint with two-one year(s) left that one of the two would be impossible to sign, I say you gotta make a trade.
  17. Just found out Buch is gonna miss 4-6 months, our ex-presumable 5th starter. So yeah, it's not even 6 wins. More like zero wins. Either way, having Sale is a huge swing. I know it's not an ideal way to predict team wins, but having Sale vs Buchholz (who's basically out for the season) is a difference of dramatic proportions.
  18. Maybe we trade XB in 2 years and find a better defensive SS solution? Hopefully to a contending NL team and help build back the farm a little. Focus on extending Betts, Sale, and JBJ.
  19. ^Come on S5, don't you think you're over-rating Buchholz a bit here.
  20. Typo on my part, I meant to say chock
  21. This was pretty good write up on Showalter's comments from last night: http://boston.cbslocal.com/2017/04/12/whats-buck-showalters-deal-anyway/
  22. I too believe it's not a myth at all. But in Betts' case, I really think it boils down to coming back from the flu and time missed. He's had some bad ABs and some bad luck. IMHO, He's one of the few batters in the league that w/ protection or no protection he'll have good ABs if he's on his game and fully healthy. Of course, you're right, constantly being pitch around would hurt anyone's game.
  23. Well, Andrew Miller is better than both Kimbrel and KRod, and would've been cheaper than Kimbrel, plus zero prospects lost. This post isn't in hindsight. I've always thought it was a mistake to not sign FA A. Miller. I also try not to judge any player this early in a season. KRod's velocity has seen a steep decline, does he have what Koji had to be successful? 'cause he's going to need it. I want to give Kimbrel more time before I judge. But I agree and never loved the Kimbrel trade. Even a far away prospect along w/ Kimbrel for what we gave up would have been much nicer.
  24. whew. I needed a run there. good sac.
  25. Ok I concede. Moreland can bat 5th
