  1. I think you're assuming too much and I don't remember making any comment I wouldn't normally make. If offense was taken, I apologize. You're a good poster and time & time again exhibit a much needed sense of calm in a storm so to speak. But let's move on. I know we can agree on this: 4th is where Betts should be batting in the lineup. Your numbers show it. Moon's numbers show it. So hopefully we see that happen soon.
  2. Naw, just numbers wise, who hits the most w/ two outs? Doesn't have to be clutch, it wld include 2-out hits that don't amount to anything. Eck said I think Monday? That Pedroia has been the most "clutch" hitter in baseball (believe it or not) , but I can't remember if he said going back august of '16 or august of '15. I don't want to open pandora's clutch hitting box here. Lol
  3. I hate rooting for failure on a team I don't despise, but if Pittsburgh falls off the map (even when Marte is done w/ suspension he can't participate in postseason play, rumors McCutchen cld be traded, they cld be sellers), I hope J Harrison cld be available. But I know he has a 2nd year left on his contract besides this season, I'm not sure if that would put us over LTL? That's before getting into what Pit. Would want in return.
  4. So this leads me to one question. Who's our best 2-out hitter then?
  5. Yeah but Fister got very little run support that first game June 25th, he could've won... June 30th, Fister didn't get the win, but Sox won the game... So, in my mind he's sorta 1-2. From a spot starter, I'll take what I can get and by no means expect all that much.
  6. Says you! Lol;)
  7. Clogging! Now that's an idea! Might have to save THAT dance for the playoffs. That pure gold. They've done the Carlson, maybe the Eilain?
  8. I'd be fine with a split. That win streak helped us a lot and since the Min. Series, we're already 2 wins more than I personally thought we'd have. Rays gain nothing on a split.
  9. Fun is a no no here & don't let me catch you liking the outfield dance. That's a severe no no as well.
  10. That and More AB aren't necessarily helping mookie (and the team) anyway. He doesn't slump, but he's been either hot or cold by a game by game basis. Three games ago he drove in 8, two games later he left 8 on base. Hot, cold, pedestrian, hot, cold, pedestrian. Which is fine by me, but quality over quantity may be the best approach and more AB doesn't always mean more quality, just quantity.
  11. Good stuff Moon. 4th it is.
  12. Just think of slot #3 in the batting order is a half dead brain cell. They say people who drink & party of the weekend kill their half dead brain cells, thus become ever-so smarter. It was a study damnit.
  13. I've an idea. Let's just not bat anyone 3rd. Takes care of that.
  14. It was definitely the wrong move. But I can see why they were interested in him. Now, the contract I can't explain. Nor defend, in any way. Stupid stupid stupid money. And on top of all of that... he slowly turned into douche.
  15. Sure, I'll say it again, why not... It's because they're a 2nd half team.
  16. Randomness you can't shake a stick at... Lin 10 Games, 25 AB: .360/.429/.520/.949
  17. I thought the Crawford signing was indeed a huge overpay, but for a good to great player that killed us every time we played against him and now he was on OUR team. He was 29, so he wasn't past his prime, so I didn't think he would decline anytime soon. So, a gross overpay for a very good player that we didn't have to face 20 times a season anymore. People forget as well is that the Red Sox DIDN'T "set the market" that off-season, Washington did w/ Werth days before. These FA big splashes never really work out it seems. I think we've also been screwd over by the market itself in recent years. Whenever we've had a need, that need is either in high demand or very scarce at the time of that particular need. Be it SP, RP, or 3B at the time.
  18. oh heck with it, let it roll.
  19. No I get it. 2 + 2=4 , except when 5 fits the narrative, of course.
  20. lol
  21. I wouldn't have it any other way. Look, you, Kimmi, S5, Hop, you're all great posters, I just adamantly disagree on this topic. It's starting to mentally pain me to still see Betts atop the order every single f***ing game when I know there's a better way ( a couple different better ways actually). I feel like the best part of our offense is tethered to the bottom of the order." As the bottom of the order goes, we go"... I guess now.
  22. These are good points as well. It's been said "as Betts go, we go"... and it's sorta' true. But with batting Betts lead-off we have to rely on our 7-8-9th hitters for Betts to do what he's capable of doing. The last week or so Lin and Marrero have been playing out of their minds good. I hope that continues, but I have my doubts it will for anything long term. What then? Maybe it's some kind of long-game with Farrell? Maybe he switches up the batting order for the post-season to rattle and throw off the other play-off teams? Other than that, I see zero advantage of continuing to bat Betts 1st.
  23. But but but but ...according to Kimmi and those studies of randomness, this doesn't exist!!!!!!!!!!!! You can't have it both ways!
  24. No, not necessarily. And I just want Betts out of the lead-off spot, so 2nd, 4th, or yes..3rd would be fine with me. It also depends on how good the batters are before him and you're ignoring that. You're taking it as gospel. I've read the same articles you have. I agree with some of it, not all of it. Additionally, I've had some of the same observations years and years before I even read them. Is it a coincidence Lin's line of 9 games .348 OBP batting mostly 8th and 9th, Also batting either 8th or 9th is Marrero who in the last 7 games has a .483 OBP, both setting up Betts to do some damage? Those are numbers you can't argue with either. How long does this last though?
  25. Wow, that's a short memory. I took a while for this offensive tear to happen. It's only just happen this past week or so. Which leads me to say it would've happened irregardless (). I'been saying all along we're a 2nd half team. It's certainly not an optimized lineup though and until it is, when we don't score enough and lose, I will continue to point to this fact whether anyone on here likes it or not.
