  1. I would love being last in HRs and still throwing a parade. I would laugh to myself all the way to the cliff.
  2. It's not an upgrade on defense. It's a big upgrade on offense (just not HRs).
  3. Yeah i don't think DD is done yet. ( Is Justin Bour a possibilty? Or is that a bridge too far? ). I sure hope DD isn't showcasing Devers. That would be madness.
  4. I didn't get the impression DD was "pumping up" Devers. I thought he was trying to lower people's expectations.
  5. I think i might be the only poster who likes this trade:o
  6. Good assessment. We've only had two 3 game losing streaks. So this team at least knows how not to lose for too long. I think we win tonight.
  7. Yeah, Paxton was lights out earlier in the year, then got injured. He seems to be back to his truer form. Good for my fantasy team, not so good for my favorite team.
  8. Me too. Well, plus a MRP
  9. They can still make a trade if they don't like what they see. If that happens though, i'd be a little disappionted they would, in essance, have given everyone else a much longer look than Devers
  10. I'm personally surprised by the move, i really thought they'd have made a trade. I stopped talking about Devers 2 months ago. And I'm sure they've heard the clamoring to bring up Devers all year. I dont think its a panic move as much as i think they wanted it to be THEIR move. Either that or light bulb finally switched on somewhere. That's how most managment FO's work in any arena. They ignore the writing on the wall for as long as they can. They take pride in being contradictory simply for the sake of it it seems and call it wisdom. They say one thing, then immediately say something to the contrary in the following sentence. They hedge their bets. I think its a control thing. Only THEY know. No one else could possibly know, right? IMHO, trading Devers for a quick fix would've been the ultimate panic move. Sticking with the status quo of Lin/Marrero wld be a frozen in panic non-move that doesn't solve anything. It's not like they didn't give Pablo/Lin/Marrero all the chances in the world to win the job. Devers isn't a panic move, he just happens to be next in line.
  11. Exactly. That's another reason why i don't view Devers as a panic move.
  12. They always downplay and they try to never show their hand if they can help it. What it really comes down to is that the market was weak, they have a prospect that could, i'll repeat... Could... be on par w/ what they'd be trading for anyhow. It's worth a shot to fill an area of (longtime) need and maybe focus on other upgrades (1B,DH,RP) before its too late. Sticking w/ Lin & Marrero is the real panic move. Thats the deer in the headlights, do absolutely nothing, get hit by a car panic move i'd rather not witness.
  13. With our 3B situation thus far, any move looks like a panic move. At least we didnt spend precious limited resources to out bid other teams for Frazier or the like. Now on to a 1B upgrade, and possibly some BP help.
  14. If we're saying screw the cap, why not just go all out for a 3B then? That's the only move we really need to make. No shuffling needed either. Edit: I realize your post was at least half in jest
  15. The Sox also were looking into JD Martinez, which tellsme that if HanRam can indeed play 1B on the regular now, we could be sniffing around for a DH in whatever capacity. Dh-1B, DH-OF, DH-3B, DH-DH... just a thought
  16. Lucroy having a very disappointing season, don't think he'd be an upgrade. Not this year anyway, and he's sat a lot so it's not like he's burnt-out. In fact I just dropped him from my Fantasy league, so nobody can claim I'm not patient. An upgrade at 1B and leave HanRam at DH, and status quo at 3B or until they promote Devers at least ... could be the plan. Moon did you like that Yank/ChiSox trade? Frazier was like 4th or 5th on my list of 3Bmen to trade for. He may have been even lower on yours now that I think about it.
  17. HR made a nice stretch, (in what the 14th inning was it?) to complete a double play and then hit a walk off HR. I personally think he's been a bit hurt all season and maybe just starting to feel good enough to play 1B if needed. If so, having him DH until he's ready w/ Moreland having a nice first half has worked out very well then for us. Almost perfect. He's on pace for his typical career norm season and certainly hasn't been the problem. I think it's his salary that leaves some fans expecting a lot more.
  18. Is it on pace, good. I wonder how much Sept. call-ups contribute to it's presumable increase?
  19. AIS= Asses-in-Seats. Red Sox viewership is down 20% this season. For Boston AIS is usually king more times than not. I expect some moves to be made really soon.
  20. Yes. I Very much agree.
  21. Ok, but why is that? Why do you think they feel the need to take more chances than other teams?
  22. OBP alone isn't helping our AIS problem tho
  23. Sorry,I missed OOB. No mouse on this laptop and in general I can only take so many acronyms in one sitting. 29 this year's league avg, last season the league avg was 54. That's a huge league drop. 65 OOB last season for the Sox.
  24. This is very telling to me
