  1. That as well, but it's harder to look up. We'd both have to go by memory. But even so, you take the 5% decrease in SB% from a year earlier and you add in the miscellaneous poor base-running that wasn't necessarily counting as SB attempts and I think you'd find us forcing things a bit.
  2. 2016 SB vs CS 78 SB%: 83 SB to 24 CS 2017 SB vs CS 73 SB%: 57 SB to 21 CS I think they're pressing a bit on the base paths to try and make something happen (due to lack of timely hits). It's not major, but it definitely isn't as good as last season. That's 24 CS on the whole '16 season compared to 21 CS already this season. I believe they're forcing things ever so slightly and it's not working out. What I'm having trouble looking up are 2016 first half SB attempts compared to this season, or in other words, are we necessarily running more this season than last up to this exact point? Which could slightly disprove my point in a way, but maybe not. 29 more SB attempts needed to match last season total w/ 68 games left ( i want to say our SB attempts are up this season slightly). I will say we lead MLB in SB Opportunities (1380). 2016 placed 2nd in MLB (2420).
  3. Sox rumored to be looking at Addison Reed (NYM). That'd be a nice pickup.
  4. I guess we could try to walk in the winning run every game, but I have my doubts on that being a sound strategy. It worked this past weekend. whooopi!!!!
  5. right... but we wouldn't have to be so aggressive on the base paths if we had more trust in the lineup. I'm not knocking HRs. I'd like more of them too. But pwer hitters are usually pretty expensive especially this time of year. Another high average bat could be just as helpful or maybe even more helpful.
  6. Not sure a HR hitter would help us more than a .280-.300 avg hitter making less outs in the lineup on a consistent basis would. We get on base fine, but we seem to be missing that "one more hit' to get some runs home. Considering that another base hit strung together could possible drive in two runs (w/ risp), there's more than one way to skin a cat.... (not that i skin cats btw:o)
  7. This is what I've been thinking for a while now. Winning a championship may take the pressure off too, in regards to trying to keep them all (nice thought, i know). Beni is too far away to worry about right now tho and I find XB the most expendable if there's a good defensive SS to be had for cheaper when the time comes. It's one of the only ways to stay young and competitive for us in the coming years and it becomes less of a hard choice when we all know we can't keep them all when Free Agency comes knocking at the door.
  8. Sometimes just being a power threat (without the actual power) can prove beneficial. And like someone else said, I wouldn't complain if we got Frazier (considering our tight budget and options). Robertson may be a bridge too far, but Justin Wilson & Pat Neshek have also been trade rumors.
  9. But DD always gets his man, no matter the cost.
  10. Does Door #3 at least have a toaster?
  11. It's been frustrating, but they ARE in 1st.
  12. Yeah, that's why I've been leaning Harrison. I also like having Harisson if Pedey gets hurt we'd have some 2B insurance.... and then we'd most likely bring up Devers for 3B if that situation happened.
  13. I wasn't aware of that. That changes things for me.
  14. Beltre is my first choice, then Harrison. Nunez & Frazier are tied. All of them bring slightly different talents w/ Beltre being the clear favorite. I'd be fine w/ Frazier if he wasn't batting .210.... but he does have 16 HRs (All depending on what we'd have to give up of course and then we may need to trade for a RP on top of all this)
  15. Was bbq-ing and playingcards outside listening to yesterday's 16 inning s***-fest on the radio. I'm only comforted by the fact that I didn't actually see one play, so my eyes don't hurt today... only my ears. It could've been both.
  16. HanRam has been somewhat pedestrian but he doesn't suck. All he needs is one good month for his numbers to skyrocket. We know what he's capable of. HanRam's not the problem just because he rubs some the wrong way for whatever reason. I think if you throw in another .280-.300 hitter in the lineup, this offense will be just fine (preferably at 3B who can play average to above average defense). S5, what interview are you talking about? The on-field interview after the game? If so, I didn't find anything he said to be anything but what a normal teammate would say.
  17. This could be HUGE!!! (.... for my fantasy team)
  18. Well to be fair, you could've been higher on McHugh than McCullers going back last season than I. McHugh could return this season, but it's a little like our situation with Smith/Thorn or even with Price before he came back after injury. Nobody REALLy knows if said pitcher will return to form and pitchers without a huge track record and history are even tougher to judge. Side note- Peacock has filled a starter role admirably.
  19. I agree. Plus, We don't need him this season anyhow. There's soooo much time for Swihart to work things out in the minors. Let's assess Swihart next season.
  20. Keuchel and who else?... because McCullers is already pitching. McHugh's been out for a long time and has had setbacks all season.
  21. I doubt Young returns as well, although I don't think age has anything to do with it, his age or his replacement's.
  22. Astros are a fun, talented team, but they certainly have major holes in their Starting Pitching. They're also a combined 2-7 vs Bos & Cle, and they're bound to face one them come playoffs. There's also a good chance they face TB in post season and that might be a very competitive series. A 10 win total difference is nice (60 wins vs 50 wins), but they've beat up a team like Oak, went 10-2 vs Oak... so I have to slightly question the caliber of their competition. There are reasons why the team with the best record isn't always the best team. But they ARE fun and I like them. If they make a trade to upgrade their SP at the deadline I might buy in a little more.
  23. ...with Millar coming soon (under construction).
  24. Harrison's a better 3Bman than Frazier. He's had a bit a of a down year at 3B and an up year at 2B. One could argue that overall, 3B is his best position though. He's better than what we've had at 3B on both defense and offense in years. If Pedey needs to sit or get injured Harrison would be a solid replacement at 2B as well. His salary would fit under cap limit too. Considering our options I think Harrison would be the best option up to this point.
