It's just that right now, September 5 in the heat of a pennant race that daily adds to the pressure, Devers struggles at the bat and in the field--to say nothing of his age and very rapid ascent to Boston--justify what Farrell is doing. Isn't Maddox new and didn't hit get a scoreless inning last night?

Maddox is our 5th reliever and is working on the 6th inning of scoreless relief by the bullpen. As delighted as I was with the 2 run 9th, it was the result of one hit, one walk, and timely groundouts. The Sox hitting remains a question mark.

Meh. Devers is absolutely worth defending. Right now fastballs seem to be a problem and he's the guy who homered off a 103 mph fast ball.

Absolutely the right move to send Bogie, who has now stolen 14 bases in 15 attempts. Sadly, Devers is clearly still struggling. He was clueless against those cutters. Never even fouled off a pitch.
