  1. Ok. Groundout scoring a run and getting Betts to 3b with 1 out.
  2. Why do they keep replaying a HanRAm dinger when a single would do almost as much good? I don't want him swinging for the fences.
  3. Bulletin. Won't this be great I have to eat those terrible words now less that 15 minutes old? Go, Sox!
  4. Could not agree more about getting life back into the offense, but the available evidence is that Devers hitting--which has undeniable and houmoungous potential--has gone steadily down hill. I believe (I don't often listen to them) the commentators have said that opposing pitchers have him figured out and he has not in turn made his own adjustment. Heck, he's only 20.
  5. Well done, Kimbrel. Well done, ERod with a quality start when we really needed one. Well done, Sox bullpen. Too bad it is a truism that it's really hard to win when you can't score a single run. I will repeat what I said last night. If the fans at Fenway are not booing this team, they are sheep being sheared by John Henry and his minions who failed to produce a competitive team after David Ortiz retired.
  6. Good. Great in fact. Go after the 23 year old and the one guy on this team who has hit well when all others--all far more experienced at the MLB level than Beni--have been unable to hit this season. It's great to have those two terrific arms in CF and RF, but not nearly so great if they weren't such easy outs.
  7. If Kimbrel gives up a run, I give him a pass. I mean, what's the point in pitching hard when you can be sure our guys won't score in the bottom of the 9th?
  8. Devers DWAR is 0 and he has 7 errors in 34 games, which translates to over 30 errors in a season.
  9. Cheap shot. Very cheap. He had that 3d out for a great relieve appearance with I think the bases loaded, but the ump took it away from.
  10. Why is that stupid? And forget that split second pause stuff because Devers is clearly struggling with his throw from 3b, so he hangs onto the ball and hangs onto it and hangs onto it. Nunez is the exact opposite at 3b and never double clutches. Besides, Devers has been in a hitting slump and is a shadow of the guy who hit that dinger off the 103 mph fastball. Other teams' pitchers have adjusted and found out what works against Devers, and he hasn't made his own adjustment. Did I forget to mention that he is still 20 and barely paused at AA and AAA on the way to Boston?
  11. Potential don't put the put the fat part of the bat squarely on the ball. You want to be seen as a good hitter in 2017? Show me. And please don't tell me about how good you were last year. To his credit Betts has not fallen back on that but has truthfully said he is doing a lot of things wrong. In 2011 Ellsbury had a once in a lifetime season that turned out to be just that--his career OPS is 200 points below the .932 he had that year. For all we know Ortiz's magical bat last year is what lifted these guys up. Now on their own, they are clueless.
  12. Estrada has pitched well tonight, but he has also thrown plenty of hittable pitches in the fat part of the strike zone, but against really skinny bats.
  13. Meh. I'm now on the lynch Farrell train, but what we are seeing tonight is the real reason the Sox are losing. They simply can't hit and basically haven''t except for that 16-4 run in August which it is now possible was created by stealing signals. We love to gripe about overly aggressive baserunning, but completely ignore this team's total lack of power and therefore compelling need to run more than they have in the John Henry era (except one or two seasons when Jacoby Ellsbury was greased lightning on the base paths).
  14. You really believe we will get a wild card slot? Keep watching and get back to me. This team right now is completely in step with the disastrous crew of September 2011.
  15. Last night I was torqued with Farrell because he waited too long to take Porcello out. Tonight it seems so obvious that with this pathetic bunch of bums managerial moves are completely irrelevant. Indeed, one could make the argument they have been doing this all season long--taking the manager out.
  16. I lucked out and fell asleep. Here we are in the 6th and I can't remember watching a more pathetic Sox lineup. This is exactly the same lineup--with tweaks here and there--that basically could not hit 10 or 11 straight starters, including tonight except for that one win which now seems to have been made possible by stealing signals.
  17. Nice hit, but Bautista's terrible throw made that double easy.
  18. Nice K, Erod. Why the heck didn't you do that with the man on 3b? Wake up.
  19. I'm serious. I can think of no better reason to fire a manager. The fact that Farrell might also be inept just makes it easier.
  20. That was a great changeup ERod threw for that single. Bad luck. But then his very next pitch was a fast ball right down the middle for the sac fly. That was a terrible pitch. thoughtless.
  21. Nice double by Pillar. Too bad our righties can't or won't do that. Nice work by the ball girl getting out of the way.
  22. I'm joking about it because it's so painful. You are absolutely right. If Farrell knew, he should be gone tomorrow.
  23. OK, so maybe the ump ain't giving Estrada nothing. He just has a problem seeing the strike zone. Beni GIDP after the Pedroia single. This is good because otherwise Betts would have again gone 0 for whatever with RISP.
  24. I sure hope the Sox told the Orioles about how to use those apple watches because they could use some help.
  25. Maybe the home plate ump decided to even things about against those lowdown, no good, rotten signals-stealing Sox. Give the Jay pitcher the corners, but not ERod. works for me.
