  1. Easy peasy. Ottavino knows what to do with a weak sister like Voit. And don't forget that rookie behind the plate calling the pitches, giving up zero wild pitches (let alone passed balls), and not jerking the ball to the center of the plate (which I am convinced pisses umps off).
  2. Absolutely frightening situation. But on the plus side none of those three--Judge, Sanchez, Stanton--got a hit or, worse, a dinger.
  3. You can come up with some great stats that tell a story.
  4. Nice, healthy swing by Aaron Judge--and miss.
  5. Good adjustments and/or only Garrett Richards (and maybe Barnes' knuckle curve) relied heavily on doctoring the baseball.
  6. It fits it pretty well, even with Garrett Richards. He has unsticky fingers and looks helpless and demoralized. Pivetta had a great start and now Eovaldi.
  7. I think he does that to keep his glove in the upright position. Willie Mays was more than happy to make a basket catch.
  8. Am I the first to say Wong, all 130 lbs of him, has been catching a whale of a game? Actually, I think he's 6'1" and 181 lbs
  9. Good game, especially by Eovaldi and especially against this home plate ump.
  10. Montgomery screwed on that at bat, but got the out anyway.
  11. 3 straight changeups, none in the zone. This guy pitches like Montgomery Clift.
  12. Tough call. Looks like ball and foot arrived at the same time.
  13. Good play by Judge on that double to CF.
  14. Did anyone else realize those were freaking Yankee-style runs the Sox scored in the 2d? Cheap, cheaper, and cheapest with no Yankee errors.
  15. A belated hats off to MVP 78 for a great win last night.
  16. An amazing game after two freaking innings. Great heads up baserunning by Devers to go with that great defensive play and barehanded quick throw to 1b for the out. Cheap hits except for the rookie getting his first MLB hit ever. Neat to see that ball rolled into the Sox dugout. Eovaldi Ok in the 1st and a mean badass in the 2d. Good mix on his pitches. Good command.
  17. Huh? Sox got Chavis, Hernandez, Gonzalez, and the redoubtable Dalbec--who together will make any opposing pitcher cringe. Springer would do well to watch video of those four swinging the bat.
  18. In 2008 he wrote the Rays manual on how to develop players, especially pitchers. Since then the Rays have been better than the Sox at developing players, especially pitchers. DD got the GM/President job because his forte is buying players, especially pitchers, and he doesn't mind coughing up talent in the farm system.
  19. I like that matchup. Game is at 7:15 on Fox.
  20. If that's the price, I can't see any team giving up 2 rising stars for a 36 year old starter, no matter how good. Plus Scherzer is probably going to ask for an extension on his contract @ $35M/year.
  21. I was mad as the dickens last night, but it was still one heckuva game. Just like tonight's game.
  22. Whitlock just pitched 2 excellent innings.
  23. 4 runs by Sox not too shabby. Shabby are the 3 unearned runs given up by the Sox. Sox pitching has actually been excellent, appearances to the contrary.
