  1. Your heart is absolutely in the right place, but I hope the Sox keep him and Raffy for packages that are almost affordable.
  2. JDM with bases full and 2 outs. What's the betting line, folks?
  3. Good/great defense is the poetry of baseball. Hitting and pitching, the core of every game, can be prosaic. Defense also affects the pitching--not all earned runs are earned--and think has played a role this season.
  4. I think I have to back off of that darn Dugo necklace. The force is with him.
  5. Good point. But he's still limping but now is hitting like a house afire. Thanks for saying hamstring because I clean forgot that's what it is.
  6. Not a bad call either, by Max Meh. I will say I'm delighted to see Arroyo at first base and hope he keeps it up. If the does, better him than one of those old guys I've heard mentioned. He is absolutely awful in the outfield, but pretty darn good anywhere in the infield. If Bogey stays, Arroyo gets 1B. If Bogey goes, Arroyo maybe goes to 2b or SS.
  7. Ted Williams was a two tool player if you don't subtract for his weak defense. But he was a sure fire HOF'er in his first year. Hitters get the big bucks. Nevertheless, I agree with redsoxrules because the money is guaranteed up front and very few players earn those later bucks and some players just crap out.
  8. He is almost as serious about his defense as Bogey is and a terrific young player who really wants to win. Thus my comment I think he's playing with a limp. But JH might not want to spend big to keep him. Way back on page one of this game thread someone said this lineup is what should have been it all along (well, recently since Arroyo came back with a new bat). Good call, I'd say.
  9. You think? My goodness gracious!!! Is it my imagination or is he limping a little? JDM on 2d base with an rbi double. Cora strikes again.
  10. He also had a decent arm, which is why every now and then he played RF. But every year his DWAR's have been in negative territory. He's never had much speed.
  11. Devers gets the call on a strike.
  12. I'm no fan of the Rangers, their manager, or Keuchel, but, despite the Sox 4 runs, I too would have sent him out to pitch the 5th. His stuff has been working.
  13. Well, except for a phenom like JBJ, I think most excellent outfielders need to have good wheels as well as a good eye and good arm. I think speed is an appropriate 5th tool.
  14. Cora seems to be working magic with that bullpen. All the right moves. But, despite my incessant griping about the, the players deserve the credit. Why did he pull Pivetta after 50 pitches?
  15. I would put Aaron Judge in that category because I've seen him make some great plays in the outfield and some really good throws. But his DWAR's lately haven't been that great. He has 3 more SB's this year than Mookie.
  16. Kike forgot there were two outs, thus the long pause. He still scored. Some big hits with RISP.
  17. Nope. Bogey's not back in the groove yet.
  18. I'd leave Arizona in a heartbeat, but agree the 3 sons are a showstopper. Plus Pedey shouldn't need the money.
  19. That changeup broke, but not sharply.
  20. 8, in fact. Just 11 without the missed tag.
  21. Turns out, Pivetta was right. Too bad about Devers foot missing the bag.
  22. After last night, I'm not sure I blame Pivetta for being ultra cautious with Lowe.
  23. Many agree with you, but JDM is likely to keep DH'ing.
  24. Good thought. I know Pedey liked talking about baseball. But not everyone is cut out to do it on radio or TV. To be honest, however, I seldom turn the sound on. I did however like Eckersley a lot when he did the pregame show.
