  1. Bang for the buck comes before free agency. Thus the interest in drafting and developing and even trading for young talent.
  2. He was a first round pick and has progressed nicely, so I agree. Dugo has now hit two line drives, one to left and the other to right--right to the outfielders.
  3. I do enjoy the camera shots of fans at Fenway. They had one of an older couple with the wife helping her husband put on what looked like red pancho they bought before the game.
  4. Kike 3 K's tonight. Ditto Pham. Raffy twice. McGuire the only Sox hitter with 2 hits (out of 5 total). That's right, sports fans, for the first time this year, the Sox have 4 runs off of 3 dingers--Casas with the 2-run version.
  5. Before tonight his September OPS was .967. August was .515. Season is .880.
  6. OK. That's 7. Like I said eons ago, this is a much better game than I expected.
  7. You have your tinkers to evers to chance, and now we've got Schreiber to Whitlock to Barnes. Plus the brilliant, irreplaceable Brasier, of course.
  8. Not Devers fault at all. I've read right here on Talksox that the umpires have no idea where the strike zone is. If we only had robo-umps, hitters would never swing at bad pitches. And pitchers, rejuvenated by getting a fair shake on strikes, would paint the corners pitch after pitch after pitch. Annie Savoy and Walt Whitman had it wrong.
  9. Why in the wide, wide world of sports would Cole keep throwing hittable pitches to JDM when little leaguers would know to serve up sliders to the outside? No way will the Yankee announcers mention that.
  10. Not a good at bat for Raffy.
  11. What I really like is that it was a first pitch swing. Sox hitters seem reluctant to go after first pitches.
  12. Tell us what the Yankee announcers are saying about that!!!!!! Hello, Pesky pole! 4-3 with a dinger from Bogey!!
  13. Bottom of the 6th with Dugo, Bogey, and Raffy. Need something, guys. It's your third look at Cole tonight.
  14. Brasier in for Pivetta, and the Talksoxers come alive. Ok, all the right field stands look full. I'm saying 36K. Brasier comes through like the champ he's always been.
  15. Probably. But you did need 5 of those rascals.
  16. Just got a quick peek at the crowd. Looks almost full.
  17. My NOAA map says the rain shouldn't get to Fenway for 2 more hours.
  18. #56. 3-3. Both Yankee dingers to right center and therefore well hit. So was Casas's well hit. Mcguire's curled around Pesky pole.
  19. After 5 innings, Pivetta has thrown 78 pitches and Cole 79.
  20. What are they saying about their catcher?
  21. How big does the crowd look tonight? It's the Yankees in September, but not exactly a good year.
  22. Pivetta final gets a call--a good call--for strike three.
  23. Mean, but still very good.
  24. I do like that 6'4" stretch at 1b.
  25. Pivettaboutit. Is that the first time? Another gem. 29's a pretty big number--agree.
