Oh, look and see!! Weissert is terrific with no one on base and the Sox down, 9-3. Chalk this one up.

Agree May is not yet a disaster. Plus Tolle looks like an awfully good 4th starter. The bullpen doesn't look so hot, but have been good. Overall, the Sox pitching is good. The problem now is the hitting. Bases loaded. Hope the Sox can make me eat my words. Nope. Gonzalez and Narvaez come thru with K's with the bases loaded. These are our Boston Red Sox right now. Don't forget that the top 3 in the order are hitless with 5 K's in 9 at bats. Ain't that something?

Don't give that me 20-20 hindsight stuff. Weissert killed us last night but he was the right guy to send out. And, oh, by the way, the Sox scored 2 stinking runs, one of them unearned. Today they also have 2 runs,.

Don't forget the warmups. One of them is out there right now giving up hits and walks. One more time. Cora stuck with May because he knew this game was unwinnable. The hitting stinks and the bullpen is struggling.

I think so. The hitting stinks, and the bullpen has been worked hard because of no off days recently. Are you unaware Cora had to use 5 relievers last night?

He went straight south after the 4th. Ugly pitching in the 5th, then followed by solid hitting in the 5th and 6th.

Anthony K's for the 3d time against a righty pitcher who absolutely has his number. He also has Bregman's number and Duran's. That's the top 3 in the Sox batting order.

If May pitches the 6th and gives up 0 runs, it's a quality start. The 1st run was unearned.

Sox are in a long stretch with no days off. Plus May pitched well for 4 iP--0 ER.

Miracle break for May--neat GIDP by Bregman and a nice grab by Anthony. Sox down 2-4 in the bottom of the 5th.

A cheap single, and HBP, and a BB to load the bases with no one out. Mr Hyde broke out and has taken over the Sox mound. No one out yet in the 5th with 3 runs in and 2 men on.

Duran, lefty bat vs righty pitcher, aggressively swings at the first pitch well out side the strike zone. The Sox look like crap, but a lot of that is because Oveido working the edges.

In the replay Narvaez doesn't even look like he is swinging hard on the dinger. Anthony Ks twice on a total of 7 pitches.

Plus Gonzalez made the error that led to the unearned run and then struck with men on 1b and 2b. That was a short paternity leave.

Those lovely numbers ignore that the Sox OPS's are worse in August and that 2 of the 6 ain't here today. Abreu with his freaking tight calf muscle is not expected back until the 10th.
