  1. Checking in ... have there been any signings or trades yet besides Hunter Renfoe?
  2. 2003 - 2008 for me. The 2008 team, in particular, is very under-rated.
  3. Is Frank Thomas suspected of steroid usage? That would really depress me.
  4. My thought as well.
  5. For the record, getting Bauer without having to give him a 7 year deal, would not, um, upset me.
  6. Rick Porcello coming back, wow... Also, I don't think they trade Vazquez, but it seems to be popular here on this site to consider it.
  7. Walden was pretty good for us in 2019. I hope he gets another chance.
  8. Is there hope that Benitendi is going to bounce back and contribute in 2021?
  9. I agree - there's a good solid core here, especially if E-Rod and Sale are pitching as well as they usually do by season's end. My big concern for 2021 as far as the core goes is J.D. Martinez.
  10. You know, I never really put this together in my head, but I think I never believed in the 2013 team because I was upset that Beltre & Martinez were gone, as well as the chicken and beer incident from 2011 and the Bobby Valentine debacle from 2012. I'm still mad at myself for not getting cable in August of 2013 so I could watch the playoffs. (Nowadays of course I know where to go on the internet to watch any baseball game...)
  11. Sorry didn't read the whole thread but I had to respond to the first post. It's hard to get worked up for 2021. This team has a lot of holes, maybe no more than the 2012 team, who won it a year later, but I seriously doubt they'll be competing for a ring in 2021. The year I got really pissed off was the year Nelson Cruz and Max Scherzer were available, and they picked up Pablo Sandoval and Hanley Ramirez instead. In fact Nelson Cruz has been repeatedly available, and they have never been interested in him. I have no idea why. The other time in the last 10 years I got upset was when they didn't keep Adrian Beltre. Yes he knocked Jacoby Ellsbury around, but that was an accident Seriously, what a fantastic third baseman. He should have been locked up in a long term deal. I think I was upset about Victor Martinez leaving the same year. Oh yeah, and not keeping Lester but everyone agrees on that point. I'm not happy about Mookie Betts being gone ... but I'm already a huge Verdugo fan. As for 2021, it is entirely possible Rodriguez - Sale - Eovaldi - Houck - Pinneta turns out to be a good rotation by year's end. And I'm guessing they bring Bradley back for CF.
  12. I'm still hoping the Sox sign Corey Kleuber. The upside is very high.
  13. Oh! I guess I thought he was being groomed to be a starter?
  14. What about Darwinzon Hernandez?
  15. I'm quite bullish on our 2022 chances. But beyond that, part of being a fan is enjoying watching the team win, and another part is getting attached to the players and rooting for them personally. You've been a big JBJ fan all these years, and I've been a big Bogaerts fan.
  16. After the Betts trade, I said well at least they still have Bogey and Raffi. If they trade Bogey, I think it would be too much for me.
  17. I'm not terribly excited about 2021. I think the storyline is "return to form". I think it will be a year of transition, where by the end of the year the team will be rocking, but too late to make the playoffs. 2022 is where it's at. Of course let's let the free agent chips fall where they may before that's set in stone.
  18. The plan could just be that nobody knows yet what salary ranges free agents will get, so don't lock anybody in that you don't have to.
  19. I think I'd prefer to take the flyer on Kluber. I have to say that's an intriguing one! If he can actually come back, that would be quite the pickup. Could you imagine how good we'd be if we had Sale, Kluber, Rodriguez, and Eovaldi all pitching well?
  20. I think this was a good move. Salaries are projected to go way down this year, so $6.85 million for a 4th starter may end up outpricing the market. So let's see, where do we stand at present: #1 - Rodriguez is supposedly recovered from myocarditis, yay! #2 - Eovaldi #3 - Pivetta #4 - Houck #5 - missing And when Chris Sale returns, he probably replaces whichever starter is least performing. I think they need to acquire one starter of caliber (#1-#3), one innings eater starter (#4-#5), and one backup starter.
  21. Bauer says he only wants 1 year deals. So now it makes even less sense, but I have my eye on him for 2022 if Sale is healthy. That would be a nice 1-2 punch.
  22. Why isn't Trevor Bauer a possibility?
  23. Would I be correct in saying the Sox need to pick up, at a minimum: 2 starters 3 relievers including a closer 2 outfielders ?
  24. From the Mayo Clinic website on myocarditis: Treatment In many cases, myocarditis improves on its own or with treatment, leading to a complete recovery. Myocarditis treatment focuses on the cause and the symptoms, such as heart failure. In mild cases, persons should avoid competitive sports for at least three to six months. Rest and medication to help your body fight off the infection causing myocarditis might be all you need. Although antiviral medications are available, they haven't proved effective in the treatment of most cases of myocarditis.
