  1. I believe Dallas Keuchel is still out there. Which is absurb.
  2. If they suddenly start playing better at home this might have some substance to it, but so far I see a team that has a huge World Series hangover.
  3. What I meant is that I'm concerned in the short term. Of course I believe in the long term this team will make the playoffs. But I'm more confident in the starting rotation starting to give us quality starts than I am in the offense giving us 5+ runs a night within the remainder of April.
  4. I'm really concerned about our offense. It would be great to see some quality at-bats today.
  5. ... but in general, if his velocity stays in the upper 80s, he won't be able to live up to that title going forwards
  6. Poor Johnson. He should probably have come out of that game once he felt his elbow hurt.
  7. Either way Workman, Barnes, and Brasier end up roses. Good for them. And Velazquez is getting the spot starter / long man role nailed down as well, so that's 4 relievers thriving in their roles. More than the offense or starters can say...
  8. Exactly what I was trying to convey, thanks. One great game calling, defensive catcher, and one catcher with more of an offensive upside sounds like a workable tandem.
  9. I would like to see Velazquez go 5 innings next time.
  10. Had contracts not been a factor, I would have liked to have seen the Red Sox go with Leon & Swihart.
  11. Correction: Brandon Workman has pitched 5.0 innings and allowed one base runner via walk. He did not allow an earned run. Matt Barnes has pitched 4.1 innings. So our top 3 relievers Brasier, Workman, and Barnes have pitched 14.1 innings with a combined 4 hits, 2 walks, and no runs allowed. The next trio of Colton Brewer, Hector Velazquez, and Heath Hembree have pitched 18.1 innings and allowed 6 runs, which is still excellent. Thornburg is actually the least effective at this point, with a pedestrian 4.50 ERA.
  12. Hey all, I've been quiet so far this season myself, and the slow start is agonizing, but I stick by what I said last week; I think it will take this team until mid-May to jell and then they'll take off like a rocket. So, no worries yet
  13. I fully expect the Sox to hit their stride mid-May and never look back.
  14. It feels like none of these starters had adequate spring training. Hopefully by the end of the month they will all have regained their proper form.
  15. Last year when Kelly blew the opener I was ready to cast him out - some of you might remember - but he turned things around, so I will not get overly concerned about Thornburg yet. However, I have been thinking that Thornburg has nothing left ever since he joined the Sox. So I can't say his performance yesterday came as a surprise. Sale on the other hand, that's worrisome. Hopefully he turns it around next start. This team makes the playoffs even if Sale has a bad year, however.
  16. I don't even remember Youkilis playing for the Yankees. Wow how about that. I think Ellsbury is still secretly playing for the Sox. The only explanation...
  17. Finally some good news!
  18. My first thought as well, that it had nothing to do with Pedroia and everything to do with those two.
  19. It looks like the Sox having a "World Series hangover" and getting off to a slow start is a real possibility.
  20. Hopefully they usually will only have to pitch 2 innings a game. Cora had a quicker hook last year but he may need to adjust his approach.
  21. That's my boy! I think I've adopted him.
  22. Makes sense. Possibly even bat him 8th because Pedroia - JBJ - Beni - Betts is a great sequence
  23. It will be really interesting to see where they bat him in the lineup, especially if he is raking.
  24. I *so* want to get on the Pedroia bandwagon. Say what you want about the bullpen, but if this guy can be back to hitting .290 - .300 with his gold glove defense and speed on the basepaths, watch out American League!!!
  25. Even if we signed Craig Kimbrel, it may not help if he continues to be ineffective. We need to replace the Craig Kimbrel of the first half of 2018 and prior years. I was hoping a trade would yield such a pitcher.
