  1. Victorino is on the DL. However, for all of the Victorino bashers, this is a reason why a healthy Vic needs to be in right field. IMO, he makes that play.
  2. Fred, perhaps you should start a thread entitled "Games Farrell Has Cost the Team" so that you can keep track. Then, at the end of the season, when Farrell has cost us about 17 games, and the team has won about 88 games, we can all acknowledge that we really had a 105 win team and that Ben did an outstanding job this offseason!
  3. I have to disagree with this. If Craig keeps Jones to a single, the entire dynamic of the inning is different. Perhaps Davis grounds into a DP. Either way, the loss is not 100% on Koji.
  4. Koji is not the closer that he was a couple of years ago, but he should still be very effective. At any rate, it is too early to give up on him in that role. I, for one, am glad that Farrell is not at reactionary as some of the fans are.
  5. Let me also say that lost in all of this "blaming" is the fact that Masterson pitched a very solid game. Good job by him. No loss is good loss, but his effort was a good one and something to be positive about.
  6. People tend to want to blame a loss on a single player or on the manager. Craig, Koji, and Farrell have all been blamed for last night's loss. Last I checked, baseball was a team sport. Where was the offense during almost that entire game last night? Cy Chen retired the last 13 batters that he faced. Really? What about Hanley getting thrown out at the plate? There are far too many plays in a game to blame a loss on one play or one player/manager. There were plenty of opportunities where the Sox could have won the game earlier. That doesn't even take into account all the randomness that usually affects a one run game more than talent does.
  7. Sometimes momentum doesn't even affect more than an inning at a time. Last night's game is a perfect example. The Sox grabbed the momentum in the top of the 10 with with Xander's HR, and Baltimore grabbed it right back with Jones' triple. Will that momentum carry Baltimore in today's game? Your guess is as good as mine.
  8. Fred, you are always concerned about our team coming off the rails. I understand wanting to keep Holt in the lineup, but I also understand the need to get Craig some consistent at bats. As of now, Holt is a bench player. Hence, he will be spending some time on the bench.
  9. Nice. He gets out of it with no damage. Let's go offense!
  10. I hope our offense didn't decide to take the night off.
  11. A stolen base can be a catalyst for a momentum swing in a single game, as was the case for Roberts' stolen base. Momentum may or may not carry on past that game. It has no predictive value. A stolen base can be huge in any single game, but over the course of the season, or on average, they are overrated.
  12. LOL Protesting the death of Freddie Gray.
  13. Victorino to the DL, more because Farrell wanted another reliever called up than because Vic needing the DL stint.
  14. Apparently, there are hundreds of protestrs and heavy police presence outside of Camden Yards. The ballpark is currently about 1/3 full.
  15. Masterson said the same thing. He got this!
  16. No, it's not the basis of our disagreement. That's why I said that you are arguing points that I am not making. Two things that I have said about base stealing: 1. Stolen bases are overrated. 2. A hitter does not have an advantage with a base stealer on first base, ie., base stealers do not "disrupt" the defense and give the hitter an advantage.
  17. Disappointing, to say the least. Especially since they're being led by Arod. I always hope they come off the rails. Losing today would be a good start.
  18. Masterson and the Sox bats got this. Not to mention the great NS mojo. Go Sox!
  19. What are you talking about Fred? Cherington has been very patient, the opposite of one who would make panic moves. Signing Drew was not a panic move. It was a necessity once Middlebrooks went down.
  20. I expected your pitching to be good, provided they stay healthy, which they have so far. I am surprised that your offense if doing as well as they have so far. I didn't think they had it in them. It's early, but if the offense continues, I will have to admit that I was way off the mark on that one.
