  1. Just like Theo was incompetent? You see exactly how competent he is, now that he doesn't have to answer to the higher ups.
  2. No, I didn't. And yet, did you ever hear me bash him? On the contrary. I was defending him against all of the character assassinating posts. Also, before Hanley had a chance to play 1B, did you ever see a post from me saying that Shaw should be our starting 1B this year?
  3. No, he really wasn't. That should have worked out. He was an idiot for not re-signing Lester when he could have had him for relatively cheap, if that was his doing. He was not an idiot for signing Pablo, because I know that he would not do such a thing without being "persuaded" by higher ups.
  4. I'm a lover, not a hater.
  5. Old-timey = traditionalist
  6. Actually, it's called being realistic. It is still in the team's best interest to have Pablo play a decent 3B, allowing Shaw to be the supersub. We have to remember that moves do not occur in a vacuum. What good is Pablo going to serve sitting on the bench?
  7. He was never worth his contract, but he has been a pretty good third baseman.
  8. No one has every claimed that Sandoval has ever been outstanding defensively. He's been average to slightly above average. Last year was an anomaly.
  9. Haters gonna hate.
  10. Butterfield said he was working on things to help improve his range. I don't know whether Pablo will be able to play adequate defense or not. All I'm saying is that he deserves the chance to show whether he can do it or not in real baseball games. As I've said before, if he doesn't show improvement, I'll drive his bus out of town.
  11. I would not be surprised if the Sox put Pablo on the DL as sort of a "face-saving" measure. The situation is one they created, BTW. But putting Pablo on the DL give the Sox an "out" if Shaw gets off to a really slow start this season. It won't look so bad that the Sox started Shaw if they had to, due to Pablo being on the DL. I'm not saying that Shaw will stink. I actually think he will be fine there, though I'm not sure he can hold up for an entire season. For the record, my defense of Pablo has little to do with a lack of faith in Shaw.
  12. I thought I just read that Pablo woke up feeling much better, so there are no further tests at this time.
  13. Trading for Castillo for a back end arm or an average position player would not make very much sense, IMO.
  14. Ben says "You're welcome" to all of you.
  15. Desperation move - no. Panic move - yes.
  16. OK, I got it now. I didn't realize that Mexico was not yet on Daylight Savings Time.
  17. Central time is only one hour behind ET. 5:00 CT does not equal 7:00 ET.
  18. This is interesting, and something I had not heard.
  19. Roster crunch is not a worry for me, because I understand the reality of players who have options being sent down. It's the rest of you guys I worry about.
  20. Good post Jacko. I agree completely.
  21. To quote Elaine from Seinfeld, "I don't know how you guys walk around with those things."
  22. It'll burn you every time.
  23. And how do you know that he was not motivated before? I'll answer that for you. You don't.
  24. You should know better than anyone that you can't take ST stats at face value. There are any number of things that Pablo could have been working on defensively. People can say that they are pulling for Pablo, that they don't hate Pablo, and that they are not making judgments on Pablo's character based on the way he looks all they want, but virtually every post made about Pablo says otherwise. Pablo has not been given a fair chance this season. That's the bottom line.
  25. David Murphy was about to be a victim of the dreaded roster crunch. He and the Red Sox might benefit from allowing Murphy to stick around a little longer, if Pablo does indeed end up on the DL.
