  1. Dislike.
  2. That was just an example. It could be any mid rotation pitcher.

    The Cubs

The Cubs look like the odds on favorites on paper, but of course they still need to play the games. As far as their recent achievements go, in 4 short years, Theo took the Cubs from being perennial bottom dwellers with losing records to having the 3rd best record in baseball and being a long term contender. That is quite an achievement.

There is only so much anyone can do when their boss is mandating how to run things.
  5. I am sure that Murphy will get picked up quickly by another team. I'm surprised he didn't get a major league contract this offseason to begin with. I wish there were a way to keep Murphy until we had a better sense of what we're going to get from Castillo. One writer summed it up nicely. It's April - You keep your depth.
  6. I'm not speaking for others. Others have said again and again that you play the best players, period, with no regard to contracts or options. So sure, go ahead and trade Panda for Shields. Just don't complain when Shields gets a rotation spot over Rodriguez or Kelly.

    The Cubs

Spot on post. I would take Theo back in a heartbeat. Francona too. Not many appreciated the greatness that we had in those two.
  8. Farrell announced today that Vazquez would definitely not be on the Opening Day roster. It is undecided whether he would stay in extended spring training or be sent to AAA. David Murphy has exercised his opt out clause. The Sox have 48 hours to respond. Most final roster decisions are expected to come tomorrow.
  9. That's fine. I'm just saying that the 25 man and 40 man roster have to be taken into consideration before signing a player. No move is made in a vacuum.
  10. One last thing. Here's a quote from Carfardo from yesterday: That settles it once and for all. Carry on.
  11. You're still avoiding the question, just as everyone else has. It's a simple yes or no.
  12. I am going to let the Pablo thing go, not because my opinion has changed, but because everyone's mind is already made up. I do want to clarify a point one more time though, because I don't think most of you understand why I'm defending Pablo. I am not arguing the point that Pablo might not be able to play adequate defense because he is fat. As I said before, that is a fair and valid point. My argument is basically 2 things: 1. He deserves a chance in regular season games to succeed or fail before being crucified. 2. The assumptions made about his character, attitude, and work ethic based on his appearance are unfair.
  13. No, you didn't answer my question. You responded to my post, but didn't answer the question. No one has answered the question. Because I'm right.
  14. But what if he plays like 2014? Isn't the team better off if he is able to do that, rather than having him on the bench? If he fails, I said I would drive his bus out of town, provided he is given a fair chance in regular season.
  15. Wright had already more or less won the job. His performance today just added more clarification to it. Elias has not only worked his way out of the rotation, but he might have worked his way out of the BP and off of the Opening Day roster altogether.
  16. I'd have no problem stashing Kelly in AAA if it meant adding another quality starter. Everyone else here would have a problem with it, IF Kelly is pitching as well as he has been. That's all I'm saying.

    The Cubs

The Cubs look to be set to be real contenders for several years to come. Theo did a great job with that franchise. FTR, he did not leave this team in a mess. The higher ups did that. And Theo did not learn and mature a lot since then. He already knew how to build a team, he just wasn't given the autonomy to do it the way he wanted to do it. Same with Ben. I would love to see a Red Sox/Cubs World Series, with the Sox winning, of course. But if it's not the Sox, I really hope the Cubs win it all.
  18. Ben says "You're welcome!!!"
  19. And hmmm. Not one person answered my question. That's because you all know that I'm right.
  20. Simple solution to my tiresome and whiny posts. Don't read them.
  21. On the contrary UN. There is a lot of assumption going into yours and everyone else's opinions of him.
  22. FTR, I do not post crap, horse or otherwise. I am not saying that Pablo was not lazy. He could very just be a big fat lazy slob who doesn't care about anything but food. I'm just not going to crucify him based on speculation and perception. We already went through all of this with Lackey. Do you make the same assumptions about every fat person you see?
  23. You do not know that Pablo is heavier than when he left last season. That is your perception. Your eyes are seeing what you want them to see. I saw the published photos. They were not flattering. But I am not convinced that Pablo came to camp heavier than he left last season.
  24. I said that he has a long way to go before he establishes himself as a #2. But he is currently pitching like one. While he is pitching like a #2, no one will want to take him out of the rotation for a lesser pitcher.
  25. Is any of what I said untrue? No. Stick to the point of the argument.
