  1. I think they will give Bogaerts a breather once Nunez arrives. He is playing injured. Betts is the guy we need to get going. He's playing awesome defense, but he has not been right offensively. He probably needs a breather too, but it's hard to give him a day off.
  2. Yes, that would be my guess. As I said, I don't see Devers being sent down, just that it would be very stupid if he were. My guess is that Nunez will give spell Bogaerts more than he does Devers for the time being.
  3. Panic move. I don't see it happening, but if the Sox send Devers back down right away, that would be the stupidest series of decisions ever. Nunez is not being added to the roster until Friday, BTW.
  4. Agreed. Bogaerts needs a breather. He is not right. I think a 10 day DL stint would do him some good.
  5. The Sox supposedly have $5.6 mil left to spend without going over the luxury cap. I'm guessing we'll be getting a reliever.
  6. Way better? I'm not opposed to this move, but I would say it's a marginal upgrade.
  7. Pedro needs to put down the crack pipe.
  8. About last night's game, UGH! That is all.
  9. Last night's game was the worst kind of heartbreaker. We took a one run lead TWICE and couldn't hold it, and our pen is usually pretty good. That said, today is the day this team turns things around. You heard it here first!
  10. ^^This! He's been on my "list" for several years now.
  11. I am concerned about how this new negative media attention is going to affect his performance on the field. Does he have the mental toughness to put it behind him and pitch? Will he be booed by the Fenway Faithful in his next home start?
  12. Yeah, no kidding. Pretty much the whole line up needs a spark.
  13. I am not knocking what Farrell said. I was supporting my opinion about the large degree of randomness in the game of baseball, which many people don't seem to agree with. Pretty much every day you hear or read something abut how baseball is coincidental, quirky, funny, crazy, unpredictable, lucky, etc. In other words, random.
  14. LOL Good one.
  15. Very level headed post sk. Always a pleasure.
  16. One week really isn't long enough to them anything. I they were going to call him up, they should have done so earlier.
  17. Agreed. It's sad when I feel like our team is out of the game when they get down by even one run. This is not good.
  18. Streaks definitely exist. The predictive value of a streak does not. A hot player is just as likely to go 0-4 the next game as he is to go 1-4, 2-4, 3-4, or 4-4. Put your best hitters in the line up, not your hottest hitters.
  19. I'm not excusing Price, but I'm wondering if there is more to the story that we haven't heard. The fact that 'many teammates' applauded (not excusing them either) makes me wonder if there is a deeper root to this problem, not necessarily with Eck, but with the media in general. I understand that the Boston media is always tough, but maybe there's something else going on. Or maybe our team is just a bunch of whiny, entitled players. Again, I'm not excusing anyone's behavior here. Price and the teammates were out of line regardless of a deeper root or not.
  20. I would have too, if such a thing existed.
  21. They had announced, pretty much at the same time that they announced his call up, that Devers would not be playing on Monday night, and that he would start Tuesday. I'm sure it was a whirlwind day for Devers, not to mention the flight to the west coast. I can understand giving him a day to take it all in.
  22. You are absolutely right Nick. I'm over this offense. Bring on the kid!
  23. Is that Dombrowski's fault? He assembled a very good team on paper, according to both the stats and the baseball analysts. If players are not performing to expectations, I don't think a GM can be blamed for that. Sure, it's unrealistic to expect every player to play at or above expectations, but it's also unrealistic to think that every player will perform below expectations. Some would call it an enigma.
  24. I do not agree that Dombrowski really isn't serious about winning this year.
