  1. Walker is a good pick up for the Yankees. While it may have worked out, relying on a rookie to fill a key position is risky. Walker gives the kids some more time. The Yankees offense is crazy good. That said, the Sox offense is pretty darn good in its own right. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I ain't afraid of the Yankees.
  2. It's possible.
  3. Hanley is going to rake this year. As far as an offensive catcher, no thanks. Not if it is at the expense of the defense. Catching is a defensive first position. Any offense provided by the catchers is gravy. We have enough offense at our other positions.
  4. Henry's philosophy on signing aging pitchers to long term contracts took an about face when Dombrowski was hired. That philosophy, which I completely agree with (and believe Ben does too) is part of the reason why Lester was not re-signed.
  5. IMO, 2012 should just be thrown out because of Bobby Valentine. And I mean that sincerely. In 2014, the Sox were the favorites to win the division by large majority of analysts and computer projection systems. Ben did his job. If the Yankee, or better yet, the Astros somehow finish in last place this year, would it be the GM's fault?
  6. LOL It was a good cover while it lasted.
  7. Devers will need to improve his defense. I think he will, given the time, but he is currently making far too many errors.
  8. I don't see our catching as a weakness either. Nor do I see 1B as a weakness. Pitching depth could be a weakness. We'll have to wait and see. As of now, I think our infield defense is our greatest weakness.
  9. I always like Salty too. Didn't like his defense, but I liked his attitude and his work ethic. He's the type of player that I'm happy to have on the team.
  10. Lucroy was once an elite defender, at least in terms of pitch framing. I suppose it's possible that he could rebound, if healthy, but I think MVP is right in saying that his best days are behind him. Our catching tandem (with Swihart as a possible 3rd catcher) is pretty good. I'm not sure why you are so eager to replace Leon with Lucroy.
  11. Well you, sir, have a lot of common sense. I couldn't agree more with what you said. I know Dombrowski is aware of who is still available. I'm a little surprised he hasn't signed any starters to a minor league deal yet. I hope you're right about him adding someone soon. He signed a reliever to a minor league deal today. The name escapes me at the moment.
  12. Thanks for the game reports. I have been unable to get most of the ST games. I'm so ready for the season to start. I've been reading a lot of stuff about how sloppy our defense has been though. They have to get it together.
  13. I completely agree with all points. As far as firing up a bowl and relaxing, if I were into pottery and had a kiln, I'd do it.
  14. It's agreeing with Ben's team building philosophy and disagreeing with Dombrowski's.
  15. I would have preferred a starting pitcher over Martinez.
  16. Cora spoke with Kimbrel today and Kimbrel said that his daughter is 'doing better'. Nice touch by the team today to wear shirts to show their support for her. Carson Smith threw and inning today and supposedly looked really good. He could turn out to be huge piece in our pen.
  17. I think it's not so much comparing, but more trying to give Ben the credit that he deserves for our current team. It irks me to no end that Dombrowski is touted as such a genius for putting our team back in contention when the team was already there before Dombrowski made any moves, and the pieces that Dombrowski added were only possible because of what Ben left behind.
  18. Don't ever count Pedroia out.
  19. Shocker alert! I agree with you 100%!
  20. He's taking a lot of criticism for re-signing Moreland, but IMO, it gave him the leverage he needed with JD. Also, I don't think it's a bad deal at all.
  21. Maybe, but this is some big time hindsight. No one could have foreseen Moustakas having to settle for that kind of a deal. I criticize Dombrowski for a lot of things, but IMO, he did a good job in signing both Moreland and JD.
  22. I like Pom, Kimbrel, and Sale too. I love our team in a short term window.
  23. One more thing to note, for those of us who care. Vazquez caught Sale in this start, not Leon. You all can read into that what you'd like.
