  1. A game thread! A game thread! Woohoo!
  2. I get the addition of a big bat, it just wouldn't have been my top priority. I think our offense would have been fine this year without JD, and I think our home run numbers would have increased as well. I am 100% with you not adding any minor league arms.
  3. I'm not chumming anything. Just stating my opinion.
  4. Bingo! Aside from hating the Yankees for 'buying championships', it's just not a very good way to run a business. Farm system. It's all about having a strong farm system.
  5. From what I'm reading today, expect Cora to use a lot of different line ups. I wouldn't read anything into this one.
  6. I don't think 97 wins is irrational, or even unrealistic. I just think it will be closer to 95 wins, mainly because the Yankees will be tough, and the Rays and Os always play us tough, even when they have weak teams. I'm not concerned about our offense. If our starting rotation stays healthy, look out.
  7. Fair enough. I have felt all along that we should have focused on adding a #2/3 starter instead of a bat. Rotation depth has always been the bigger concern for me.
  8. Personally, I don't even think Dombrowski is a Ben. But that's just me.
  9. My rational side says 95 wins for the Red Sox, which is the way that I voted, though my heart wants to say 97 wins.
  10. I would like to say that our impending cliff became a little less steep with the extension of Vazquez. Good job Dombrowski, and good job to Vazquez as well for being open to an extension at a reasonable price.
  11. Well, Dombrowski is certainly no Theo.
  12. Being a big fan of PBA Bowling, and having 2 kids who are really into bowling, I think it's awesome that Mookie bowls, and that he is good enough to compete in PBA events. That said, I do have concerns that he could injure himself while bowling. It likely wouldn't be a hammy though. More likely it would be a shoulder or back injury.
  13. Yes, I read that and acknowledged that Dombrowski kind of had his hands tied in that regard. My post was more in response to those who don't think that starting pitching depth is a concern, not as much in response to Dombrowski not signing anyone yet. That said, I'm having a difficult time accepting that we haven't signed any dumpster dive type pitchers, despite the seemingly lack of opportunity here.
  14. Holt is not going to be a Gold Glove defender, but he looks healthy and might be able to return to his 2.5 WAR level. He should be able to play his positions without being a liability.
  15. I think Cora needs to let Devers stay in the game late to help instill some confidence in Devers defensively. At least to start the season. If it turns out the Devers repeatedly costs us some close games due to poor defense, then Cora can make that decision. But IMO, Devers needs to be given the chance to show what he can do.
  16. I'd rather have Marrero and Holt starting the season in AAA.
  17. Notin has a valid argument. Our starting pitching depth, or lack thereof, is a valid concern. It may turn out that our guys stay healthy and we don't need the depth. But that is taking a rather big risk.
  18. Solid move by Dombrowski.
  19. You all really need to quote me correctly when you try to quote me sarcastically.
  20. Stop worrying about our team and start worrying about your own. Our team will be fine. One word for you: R-E-G-R-E-S-S-I-O-N
  21. I don't think there is any way that he could not be a doofus.
  22. He handled you A line up pretty well though.
  23. Don't let Jacko rain on your parade. I think he's scared of the Red Sox and trying to convince himself otherwise.
